I would say that 99% of all ball players are *****-dogs. Wade Boggs used to try to hit on my wife (before we were married) when he had spring training in Winter Haven Fl for the REd Sox back in the mid to late 80s before all the scandal broke loose with him. I guess he trained Roger Clemens on how to not be faithful. Clemen was a young player then.

There was one particular player that was all over the news back in the late 80s because he was successfull and how he represented himself on the field as a most Godly type person. Later in his career he signed with Cleveland and they were doing spring training in Winter Haven Fl. I had an appraisal assignment in one of the seedier sections of Winter Haven. I was standing at the edge of the road waiting to go into the road to take a picture of a house I was appraising. While waiting for a white toyota to pass, the driver was slowing down and stopped while looking the opposite direction of where I was standing. A few seconds later a girl comes out of a house in a hooker outfit, hops in the camary. The driver then looks to his left where I am standing 10 ft from him. I know the guy without any doubt. He looked surprised I was standing there with a camera in my hand and drove off suddenly.

I asked the homeowner if what I saw happened, just happened. He said, yea, that is (he called his name) and he comes by here two or three times a week to pick that gal up. She was the know hooker in the area.

I should have taken a picture of him and sent it to his wife. This guy is still on TV but I crack up when people mention how devoted he is to his family and his faith. The guy was the ultimate slimeball. I guess he was baptized in the Dr Jimmy Swaggart Church of Hypocrites....

Sadly there are MANY professionals who are happily married and cause no trouble but you never hear about them.

Florida. That comment is typical BS. 99%. And you are such an expert. If you had any real stones you would name names.

Ok Burm You are right. 99% is probably too high. It is probably more like 98%.
Seriously, I don't know the actual percentages but I feel the percentage is very high. Baseball players are probably worse than football players because of how much free time they have.

Roger Clemens story is probably more the norm for ballplayers that we want to believe. Barry Bonds and his mistress. Wade Boggs and his extra curricular activities, Paul Loduca and his problems, and on and on.

Read Keith Hernandez book, "If At First" He talked about the code of ball players to look the other way from teammates extra marital stuff. He talks about the time that the Mets were on the road and a relief pitcher Doug Sisk brought his wife into a bar where a lot of the team were making out with women not their wives and how when the teammates saw Doug, they tried to crawl out of the bar without being seen and later almost killed him for doing that.

Clemens is getting everything he deserves.

Personally, I am tired of it and wished it would be done with. Who cares? This happens all the time and not just in Baseball. This happens in all sports. There are many, many players on our own Cowboys who do the same. If you root for them then you can't turn a hate attitude towards Clemons. It's not right, everybody knows this but it happens all the time. You can't just say Shame on Clemons and cheer on our own players as if they are above all this.

I'd go further and say that it happens all the time in society. There are many posters on this board who have done the same or will do the same. It's not right but it happens all the time.

It's a sad statement on our society but it's how things are. Don't even know what to say except that it's everywhere.
