are there players who deserve that kind of money? Yes.

Is Clements one of them? Aww hell no.

Of course, this deal will look tiny in 3 years.

holy crap the new cap limits mean cash is crazy now. I thought it meant paying more players what they were worth instead it mean paying a few players way more. The salary cap is ********.

if there was no cap players would have been getting far more money long ago.

lately I lean towards players getting paid what they are actually worth given no limits.

if it was an open and equal market then it would be way more simple. As it is now players know what a club has to spend and they take advantage given the budget the year previous. The cap hurts the game in my opinion.

You know, thank God we extended guys like Roy Williams, McBriar, Gurode, etc. before 2007 FA started.

You got that right Woods. Their agents must be kicking themselves after seeing the kind of money being thrown around at "good" not "great" players.

wonder what team thomas is going to choose. haha. im not saying doomsday is full of it. but i doubt that any deal that ne had or didnt have with thmas is going to be done. especially with the niners giving out this kind of money. how much do u think this drove up the price on a franchised CB next yr? i thinkt he days of franchising are going to be over

Patriots close with Adalius Thomas
Friday Mar 2nd, 2007

The New England Patriots are very close to signing Ravens OLB Adalius Thomas, the deal could still be announced today. While not completed the number will be basically be $7.5 million per year and $17 million guaranteed. The 49ers are the only real compeition at this point, but the Patriots have his ear and shortly probably his signature to go with it.

Not obscene

Maybe more supply in the market can help offset these high outrageous prices.

the owners say they need one. but really, even if the cap doubled, owners still would be seriously rich.

i dont think so, the cap is just going to be so high from here on out that the salaries are going to be going up with it.

you know who i do feel sorry for? the likes or jerry jones, snyder, al davis, and kraft that have to fork over their money to teams that dont put the time in for their marketing their team, and cry about the other teams making so much more money

but he didn't get the most guaranteed money and the deal is essentially six years and $44.5 million

6 yrs 44.5 mil deal is basically what it is. lol he'll never see that 35.5 mil he's owed in yr 7. hahahaha

I am guessing owners like jerry aren't for the cap, intelligence and cash tend to not go hand in hand sometimes. Jerry is a smart guy with a grasp of the big picture, I suspect at least half the owners aren't on the same level jerry is. The cap hurts the game I never realized it till now, players are getting paid more than they are worth, simply because the players know exactly how much the owners have to spend. Thats ******** no other job in the world tells you how much the boss had to spend on you.
