I do see your point, and it would be a gamble to take someone in the 5th round of the supplemental when we have a lot of guys. But if he was better than Green or Gibson you could trade one of them.

I wouldn't take issue with using a 4th rounder on him if you feel he's all that. After all, you can effectively get out of Doug Free's contract after this season if you wanted to and had a capable replacement, and Weems is a restricted free agent next season too. But I think you would have to send Green to IR and keep 10 linemen to get it done.

I like that idea.

If Green's injury requires a lengthy recovery? Yeah.

But I remember in Broaddus' scouting report on Battle, he compared him to Green.

If that's the case, and you could have Green back this year, does it make sense to devote the 2016 draft pick for 'the same guy'?

I do see your point and I respect your opinion. It would be a reach to use a pick for next years draft on such a stocked position. Just no more LB's this year. :lmao:

In the last two years, no players have been selected in the NFL supplemental draft. This year, the NFL has announced that seven players are eligible to be selected.

However, only one is likely to be chosen: Isaiah Battle, an offensive tackle from Clemson, has a very good chance of getting picked when the supplemental draft takes place on July 9.

The league has announced that six other players are eligible as well: West Georgia defensive end Darrius Caldwell, West Georgia defensive tackle Dalvon Stuckey, Houston defensive end Eric Eiland, UConn tight end Sean McQuillan, Kansas defensive back Kevin Short and North Carolina Central wide receiver/kick returner Adrian Wilkins.

Today's the day for the Supplemental Draft - 1:00 PM EST.

I think Battle is the one player selected and my money is on the Falcons being the team who drafts him. My guess is the 4th round.

St. Louis Rams investing a fifth-round pick in former Clemson left tackle Isaiah Battle, making him the first player selected in the NFL's annual "summer second-chance draft" since 2012

Can't fault the Rams for not using a pick on Collins seeing as how all the other teams that needed oline help passed on him as well.
