Clemson v. Alabama

I went there too and love the kid but playing for Tech seems like HORRIBLE preparation to play QB in the NFL

That's one of his knocks is their system. But you cannot knock his numbers in a big school. He's not exactly playing at Hawaii.

I've read some reports with a 2nd, 3rd and 4th round grades. Luckily it only takes one team to fall in love with you.

Don't think much of Mayfield either, strikes me as a cocky A hole that needs his head knocked off and I'd enjoy seeing that happen in the pros

I know we're stacked at linebacker, but I do enjoy watching Ben Boulware play.

If anyone questions why OJ Howards numbers don't jump out at you, just look at the way they are calling this game. That should answer most of those questions.

Not saying he wont get drafted, perhaps even higher up in the draft, I just don't see how the style of football he's played prepares him for the NFL so I think he'll struggle there

having said that, I admittedly don't know squat about how to accurately assess talent

Sure you can knock his numbers at a big school. There have been several BigXII QBs who have put up numbers in college and can't do anything at the NFL level. Maybe he will have a nice NFL career, but he would be the exception when it comes to BigXII qbs.

Even the best punter in the nation goes to Alabama. It's become a joke.

It really is, makes watching so uninteresting (Clemson is teasing us though)

ESPN is gonna have to plant some "boosters" to pay a bunch of Bama players to bust up that program & run Saban off in order to protect their investment

I don't think Mayfield will get much interest from NFL teams.

I like Mahomes but he is as wild as wild gets at the QB position.

Mahomes needs a Bill Parcells in his life everyday for about 4 years before he ever see's the field.

A lot of these QBs need mentors.

It just seems that it is a churn and burn with a lot of them. Most college coaches are out for themselves, a year at a time. Not really interested in preparing anyone for the NFL or even life.

From high school, go to college, run the same thing they did as a kid, become a superstar and just flame out when they are not prepared for the NFL.

I know it is not college football's job to groom them, but still.

I'm asking myself why teams don't pooch punt more often with their QB.. It almost always works out and gets no return.
