yea, hindsight. if he came here maybe he doesn't twist his knee and maybe he becomes our own dominate player for a decade and eventually into the ring of honor.

or maybe he gets shot in deep ellum by keith davis on a rampage.

or maybe he drives by a gentlemans club at 4:20am and it explodes sending lingere out into the highway and a dozen g-strings clutter his windshield and he veers into the wall because he can't see and loses 3 toes in a freak accident after that.

or maybe he finds alternative religion and becomes "lady bentley" and gives up football.

we have no way of knowing what would happen if he were here, so it's kinda pointless to go WHEW! as if the same thing would have happened.

overall, sucks for bentley - hope he's saving his $.

Exactly
.

Most of us wanted him. He was a fantastic talent. Chances are, outside of Cleveland, he'd have healed fine. But, IIRC, they had that bizarre hot-tub disease. anyone remember?

I wanted him, but not at his price-tag, but that was then before contracts for linemen and free agents in general blew-up, so idk

That was the big sticking point with me as well. Thankfully it appears things worked out for us with Gurode.

I really dont think you can fault people for wanting Bentley to come in here. I mean we had alot of uncertainty at Center, and at the time, Bentley would have been great. Really unfortunate for him and the Browns.

Glad Gurode looked like the kid we drafted with so much promise.

this sucks! as much as i want the Browns to suck i dont wish their players to get hurt especially someone like Bentley who was a young great player with the potential to be the best in the game at his position...

Yeah, and the couple of times I've heard him interviewed, he seemed like a good person with a real passion for the game. It is sad.

With the way medicine / surgery has advanced over the past several decades, it almost seems unusual that somebody's torn knee hasn't been successfully repaired.

Anyway, here's wishing Bentley the best.

I work with a guy from Akron, who is a big Brownies fan, if he read your post he'd just shake his head saying "Only the Browns". The guys got a great since of humor, I guess you'd have to, to be a Browns fan.

But I do feel for him, though!

:browns: Sorry.........:browns: My Bad..........:browns: Did I do that......

:browns: Need some advil???

 But really, very sad for him!

I would have loved for the Cowboys to have signed Bentley.

Awful news for the Browns.

I want the Browns to lose all 16 games next year...But I'll find no joy in this news.

That sucks for Bentley he was a great center for New Orleans

Key word "was."

He's most likely done. At the very least, he'll never be the same.

The staph infections with the Browns were linked to their Berea training facility, and not any clinic.

That is terrible for him; I heard about the rumors he might be out this season also a few months ago... Damn.

Wow, that's truly awful, Cleveland spent a boat load of money to get him there too..

Cleveland is just running into bad luck... Gary Baxter's knees are essentially destroyed, he probably will not even return this year as well.

Actually there is a clinic that Steinbach went to that had a infection problem. And apparently Winslow had the same thing happen to him there.
