Clint Murchison Ring of Honor and Hall of Fame

Inherited a bunch of money from his father, and proceeded to piss most of it away over the course of his life in a way that almost destroyed the Dallas Cowboys. As he entered bankruptcy, there was a possibility that the team would’ve been sold and moved out of Texas. His dalliance with drugs and the Playboy lifestyle means that he should never be associated with something that has “Honor” in the name of it.

Google "Clint Murchison misbehavior"
I Googled it, not impressed tbh. I was suspected more scandalous stuff than narcotics and an adulator. The JFK conspiracy was interesting. Never heard of it until now.

So he was a typical billionaire who liked to have a good time. Not excusing his actions but how many people in the HOF and ROH did the same?

I guess the old well everybody else did it so why isn’t it OK for him? “argument

Clint Murchison was more interested in pursuing that lifestyle than anything involving the daily operation of the Dallas Cowboys are the NFL. Being a billionaire Playboy is not unusual among that economic class, but it should not be. What gets you into a Hall of Fame. Or a Ring of Honor

He bought the Cowboys and hired football people to run it. Don't really care what he did on his own time. None of the NFL owners are saints. I know one thing. The greatest continued success of the Dallas Cowboys was when he owned the team. I wish we could have those years again. Every year fans could honestly believe the team could make the SB. Today it's a fantasy dream.

Nothing like that. Let's just say he had a wife and kids but was not exactly faithful; and he rang up some outlandish debts and took most of them to the grave.

I wouldn't call him a criminal or a wicked man at all. He just liked to have a "good time" and really loved to take financial gambles.
Sounds like a typical man of the 60s and 70s, lol

Clint was obviously before my time, but from what I understand - he was a bit unhinged.

Didn't he also run off with Gil Brandt's first wife?
