....and so with the departure of John Philips and soon to be Victor Butler, there goes the entire draft class of 2009, as well as Roy Williams.

Four short years ago.

That should represent at least 3-4 core players on the roster right now.

Jerry is a catastrophe machine.

All those players would require a new contract. There is no real advantage to signing them vs another team's Free Agents.

He was a 2008 pick instead of 2009, but Mike Jenkins is an example. The Cowboys would not have both him and Carr on the team in 2013. If Jenkins had been great, he would have received the big contract instead of Carr. Either way the Cowboys would have a CB with a 50M contract.

The real value of draft picks is their contribution during their initial contract.

Andy Levitre and Clay Matthews could both easily be Dallas Cowboys right now.

Not if the Cowboys were smart. There's no rule that says you have to waste 50 million on a cornerback.

Who would want sucky Clay Matthews and his huge contract (he made $1.9m in 2012) when you can have Anthony Spencer at $10m year?

:p:

Its why this team was 8-8 last year, might be the worse draft in the history of the NFL :banghead:

You had me until the last line with the Jerry bashing. You saying our drafting hasn't improved since 2009?

While you're whinning, don't forget the wasted drafts of 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008..Or do we all pretend we're Fallen Pebble and ignore Big Bills failed draft classes(or freeagent signings)?

I'm so sick of those who only single out this one failed class, the Cowboys have had too many to count the last ten years.

Since Garrett took over the roster, yes.
