Close To The End

Garrett tried so hard, and got so far, but in the end, it doesn't even matter.
I suppose if the only measurement is winning a championship.

I think we’ll be able to better measure his tenure here as time passes on pending the upcoming results with Jerry moving forward. Our emotions in the moment often can cloud our better judgement as time allows us to reflect back.

Garrett has better served Jerry’s personal ambitions and why he’s so frustrated knowing this period is coming to a close. It will be interesting to see how this all effects Jerry’s decisions and continued stranglehold on Cowboys Football.

And GM.
And it's not 1989 again where Jimster brought an entire staff with him from UM to jumpstart the rebuilding.
I think a major reason Jimmy was so successful was because Jerry Jones was new to the NFL and hadn't yet convinced himself that he was a football savant. That all changed when Jimmy won a couple of SB's. Then, when Switzer won one (with Jimmy's talent), JJ was really convinced (in his won mind) that the was, indeed, a football savant. The rest, up til now, is history. JJ bit the bullet and hired Parcells because he knew the fan base was extremely restless (and he wanted that new stadium), but no such pressures exist now (other than the restless fan base). He doesn't give a hoot about the fan base because his bottom line isn't hurting. If we get a competent HC, I think it'll be more luck than anything else. That said, the "anybody but Garrett" philosophy has a nice ring to it and will keep most of us in an "any- and everything Cowboys" mindset for a while. JJ wins again. Hope springs eternal!

Don't bet on it. Garrett is the head coach in Dallas forever.
I actually believe Garretts ready to move on too. All indicators from rumors I’ve heard is those close to him have advised to consider other options.

I’d always thought someday Jason would move into the front office ( where I believed his greatest assets were) but it doesn’t appear Jerry’s ready to step aside.

Jerry of course doesn’t want to let his favorite Puppet go but the pressure from media and fans can’t withstand this disappointing season.

It’s time to move on . All things come to an end eventually. I wish Jason well in his new endeavors. And I hope Jerry’s next decision will bring the Cowboys success.

It's odd right now, the season not technically over, a week left to play with results that could put our Cowboys in the playoffs. But all I feel is an anticipation that this wraps up and we start a new era. This decade of Garrett has been the worst stretch of my 47 year fandom.

I never bought into him and had to watch this play out in agonizing fashion - the bizarre losses, the underachievement, the disarray.

Now finally we are at the cusp of a new dawn. What it will bring we surely do not know, but personally after what we just went through I'm just happy to see dry land on the horizon and I'm willing to be patient throughout the detox process.

So here's to the future, we're not yet there but may it take us to a better place.

To be fair, JasonG delegates authority to the 3 coordinators. OC, DC, and ST.

He does not control them during the games.

He mostly calls time outs , signals for extra point tries, challenges, and punting situations .

Currently. 2 of the 3 coordinators are doing a Terrible job. Marinelli and KOquinn.

They are going to get him fired.

Jerry Jones must realize the next coach requires final authority for this deal to work. The other option is a shared responsibility, but a real GM would need to be hired to work with the head coach. Jerry Jones will not relinquish his fantasy of holding the Lombardi trophy as the complete decision maker. I think he has not been broken down that far, so we are doomed.

We know Jerry has not learned when we listen to his own words. Notice the subtle differences between how Jerry and Jimmy tell the same stories. Jimmy references he made the Herschel Walker trade and Jerry says he labored all night making it happen. Jimmy has stated his largest contribution to the 90's teams was player acquisition. Jerry always reminds everyone that he has always made the final decisions. Which may be correct, but it was done after Jimmy told Jerry what needs to happen.

Jerry has to take the submissive position. Only someone like Parcells or Belichick could force Jerry into that mode. As much as I want Urban Meyer I think Jerry will exploit his willingness to taste the big stage.
