Clowney to Seattle

If all the Texans wanted was a 3rd and some backups Cowboys should be in on this.
For a 3rd we would likely get that back as a comp pick in 2021 albeit very late in the 3rd. So you are losing a year and probably 10 slots on a 3rd round pick.

Another thing to consider is that you take on his cap hit and how doesnt that effect your ability to to do extensions now. Especially Prescott's

The word is for two LBs, which is pretty laughable when they are dying for OL and RB help.

Houston gets:
  • Barkevious Mingo
  • Jacob Martin (2018 6th round pick)
  • 2020 third-round draft
Houston does not have an actual GM this season.

Texans GM:
2006-2017: Rick Smith (took leave of absence after 2017, wife had cancer)
2018: Brian Gaine
2019: GM by committee.

This trade must’ve went down with Houston saying they’ll take anything for this

Carroll : “How about two scrub linebackers and a 3rd?”

Texans : “Sold!”

Got to say it’s a great deal for Seattle... Even if they only keep him the one year, they’ll get that 3rd rounder back when he signs for another team.

You have to pay him for this year only IF he plays.

You don’t have to sign him long term.

According to others in this thread he can’t even sign a new deal so basically Seattle stole him.

I mean. If he doesn’t play then it’s even worse for them. And what do you mean can’t sign a new deal?

Evidently he has to play under the tag and can’t sign an extension.

If he sits they still get a compensatory 3rd back.

He requested a trade to Seattle so not as big a risk.

But you are right about the value being reduced because Houston bungled this situation horribly.
They were at a point where they pretty much had to salvage the situation

Good for Seattle. We shall see if Clowney becomes the player he was projected to be. We'll also see how much he can handle being double teamed now as opposed to single blocking thanks to J.J. Watt.

They also have Ziggy Ansah and that 1st round rookie, so that pass rush is going to be impressive in Seattle.

You can find a capable RB for pennies after cuts are made. And no one is trying to give away OL players for an DE that may cost too much as they are too valuable

So they have Ziggy and Clowney now. If both can play in the majority of games, Seahawks could have a very good year
