Clue to Romo and Roy not being on same page

Seems like, from Romo's post game brief interview with Tiki is a good indicator as to why Romo and Roy are not on same page. Romo said, that Austin makes his cuts the right way and makes it easy for him to throw to, when asked about that chemistry.

Which means, I am guessing, Romo is not liking or still not in sync with Roy Williams route running, even though at times it seems like Roy is wide open. Now it doesn't help if Roy drops balls that he did today, which normally Roy doesn't.

But at some point, Roy and Tony will have to get on same page, since Austin will be double teamed pretty soon. Or Best CB on opposing team will start to cover Austin.

I saw that on NBC tonight. I'm sure that's what it boils down to but Romo is stuck with Williams so he better learn his "cuts". Roy is not the best of route runners but what he lacks there is in his hands which sucked today.

I heard him say that he likes the timing Austin has on certain routes.

Yep. I think also, Roy is faster then he looks, which I think, is what makes it difficult on Romo, i.e. judge his speed on cuts etc.

Roy just looks lazy out there. All this talk about dialing 911, gimme a break.

Our second tight end was more productive than him today. Id really consider starting Austin/Crayton.

Roy doesn’t have to run crisp sharp routes, he just needs to block.

I would deactivate Roy and put O-Tree.

Crayton and Austin should be starting.

Romo definitely has trust issues

he's been working with Austin for 3 years, and is finally comfortable with him

it just seems to take Romo forever to be comfortable to look for certain receivers all the time

Aikman was the same way.

Exactly correct. And Aikman used to catch grief about it from fans too. I remember arguments about that and comparison between Aikman and Farve about turning WRs into players etc., no matter the garbage that Aikman was throwing to.

This is intelligent. You would just rather the team has to eat a big contract and we get less production out of our other WR?

This does not make sense. Romo and Roy must get on the same page. Would be a very bad situation for the team if they didn't.

Well we have the #1 offense in the league, so without Roy, Romo is working it. It is better for a WR to cater to the QB's needs (run correct routs) than for a QB to anticipate a lazy rout run by a WR.

Not surprised... It has been blatantly obvious to me for awhile now. Romo is not going to toss it to someone that isn't consistently where he is supposed to be. Does anyone here see it as a coincidence that the moment Tony stops keying on RW11 that his INTs disappear? Hrmmm.

Leave Roy as the 2nd option where he belongs.

On that first drop, Roy had his hands in the wrong position. He had his right hand above his left hand, making it a difficult catch. IMO, he should have had the left hand above the right hand, giving him more of a basket to catch the ball with.

I don't blame him one bit. He gets crucified for every little mistake, even if it's actually the WR's mistake. If he can't trust you are going to be where you're supposed to be, he shouldn't even bother looking your way. Williams needs to start working much harder or he's going to find himself trying to hold off a high draft pick/free agent WR and Ogletree as early as next year. His contract makes him a prime candidate to get rid of in an uncapped year if he gives you next to nothing on the field.

Maybe you got a point there. But I am not sure like Romo and Roy have been saying, they are getting close. Because Romo did target Roy few more times than normal and he was open. Either he dropped it, which he admitted he sucked today to his credit ( Note: TO would never have there), or Romo was off on his throws to Roy.

I am still hopeful. I don't think Roy is great, but he is not bad as many fans think.

Well, it's got to be partially his route running. Just to my eye, it's obvious that he's not real sharp out of his cuts.

He is open. He was open on at least 5 plays today. Unfortunately, one of them, he pushed off right in front of the ref. On two others, he merely dropped the ball.
