Let's not kid ourselves.
Wade isn't a media savvy guy and he never will be. And he's not a great interview.
Phillips is simply an honest guy who usually gives it to ya' straight, even when he shouldn't.
But in this instance, he seems to have been 'well-coached' about what to say and what not to say.
And I definitely think it's the right way to play it.
Nothing to be gained by either Owens or the Cowboys in slinging mud at one another.
And for that reason, the press hates it.
Why?
Because they can't make any money off of the controversy angle.
I have to disagree. IMO he is a guy that never gives it straight, nor does jerry and that is the main reason for the problems he has with the media.
they are always selling sunshine. Everything is always ok and every player is a hall of famer when these two guys talk. Wade has shown here that he will take credit when things are going good and he will shrivel up and pass the buck when things are going bad. Reporters see right through that in him and by being that way he gets pushed around in the media, and unfortunately in his locker room.
Its going to be a long miserable year for wade win or lose. He is a lame duck with some terrific coaches waiting in the wings. I think it is going to take this team a couple of games to adjust to playing without buffalo bill, and if we get off to a 2-3 start of something people are going to freak, most likely prematurely.
So by october 1 I imagine the biggest story in Dallas will be Mike holmgren and Mike Shannahan are waiting to take this job. Then wade will have to deal with the lingering buffalo bill questions, the questions on romo, the questions on his now out in the open dual role, the play of the team and ultimately the guys looking over his shoulder to take this job.
I personally dont think he is equipped to handle that and at some point it will blow up in his face. I hope not, but I havent seen a thing from the guy that tells me can handle difficult situations.
