What I noticed is all the coaching changes did not seem forced like they were the last couple of years. It is obvious Garrett is way more comfortable with the staff this year then he had been with some of the previous coaches. You can tell everyone knows their role and the overall synergy is very good.

I agree. I think Garrett working relationship with Linehan makes it much easier for him to trust in what Linehan is doing. It also gives Garrett the chance to be the HC of the entire team not just the offense which is what Jimmy was preaching when Jason got hired

I think a good positive is that while each of these coaches has HC experience, it does not appear that any of them are remotely interested in HC jobs.

I tend to think that when you hire a former HC to take over as a coordinator or position coach, you run the risk of them wanting to be a HC again and trying to go into business for themselves. But, I don't think Linehan, Marinelli or Callahan want anything to do with being a HC again unless they got a ridiculous offer.

Linehan > Callahan
Marinelli > Kiffin
Garrett 2014 > Garrett 2013

This is a pretty good development. Others posters have pointed out that Linehan has brought creativity to our offense, and that Marinelli is doing a lot with little talent. But we have to give props to Garrett too. I have criticized him in the past, but it all starts with the head coach and I feel like things have changed this year. We are no longer seeing the coaching blunders from last season. The overall coaching structure is working better right now.

In fact, we are seeing mistakes from the opposing coaches for a change. The biggest playcalling mistake this year was Romo's fault, not Linehan's or Garrett's.

My concern with Garrett is that he was a coach in training, but he had nobody to train him. To be the best you normally need to learn from the best. Having Linehan and Marinelli should definitely help him.

Last year I felt Kiffin was done and we made a mistake bringing him here. His last couple of years as def coordinator were historically bad. He lost it, we suffered greatly from it. Promoting Marinelli was the best coaching change we made.

Linehan has really surprised me. Sure, we have a stronger OL, but he also has a good "feel" for the game, which is what you need as playcaller.

Our biggest problem this year is really injuries/health. Romo's health, defensive injuries and the lack of talent in the DL are our biggest obstacles right now.

Drafting a bonafide blue chip OG in the first round and purging the defensive side of the ball of aging talent will do that for you.

Don't forget Callahan as well, the guy who molded this offensive line and is the man behind the blocking schemes and running game.

you Are sure of that I think I was Hudson Houck who got us T SMITH

OH BURMA SAID ' I am NOT taking him at #9 for someone who hasn't PLAYED at that weight or showed he CAN maintain that wt. I WON'T take a developmental prospect at #9." "I do not think with his frame he could add too much more bulk without it affecting his quickness."

Marinelli has been churning the roster since he's been here. Praise him for the personnel on defense, despite the injuries, which he's never excused. McLain, Selvie and Moore are just examples.

that started with Bill Parcells

Might as well throw out Bissacia out there as well while you're in the midst of this performance. Give him power over the roster too. We won't consider that when the assistants input is clearly valued then it is the HC/GM empowering them but that would demonstrate how asinine your approach is. Cognitive dissonance is a *****.

Schadenfreude is bad but I cannot help but look forward to the meltdowns when Garrett is extended. Hilarity. What would be epic is us going 12-4 or the like and Garrett getting CotY consideration.

You guys' heads would explode trying to tap dance around that.

No, it did not. Jimmy churned the bottom to lower middle of the roster all the time. Garrett got that from Jimmy. I would say that it is Garrett doing the churning, but only after conferring with Marinelli

You guys give Parcels credit for stuff he never got accomplished here. He did not do squat but draft weak, soft, stupid players, I will admit some had talent

well I don't ever want to give Parcells credit for anything - except being a lousy coach

I already said this team would make the play-offs with Linehan and because Jerry met his pet coach just walk the sidelines and clap. As long as he's moved more and more out the picture, I'll be fine with it.

Don't worry, I remember all you folks denying that play-calling was an issue and past discussions on play-action...
