I agree with the premise of your post.

I played basketball in high school. We werent the most athletic, werent very tall, And just overall not as talented as other teams in our conference. But we were coached well and we hustled and got every loose ball and played great defense. Its the only reason we were competitive. Football is completely different especially at the NFL level, but coaching and leadership makes a big difference.
You can have the most talent in the NFL and not win. I look at how other teams use their receivers, and it ticks me off.

I look at how they use Welker, it's pretty obvious that if we had that guy, we'd just line him up and tell him to get open. having the clock wind down on you, I can go on and on. The little things in coaching makes a huge difference. The talent from team to team is not that huge except for maybe quarterback. Coaching and Quarterbacking makes ALL the difference. Garrett looks the part, and that's it.

Wasn't Calvin shut OUT in that 2nd half? Straight dominated. I even saw Will Allen get a pick because Stafford was trying to force to Calvin.......

I take 179 yards and 2 TDs all day , thank you

I do understand your point though. As good as he is, he is not totally unstoppable.

Oh that's great no doubt. But at the same time they reason why they were having success in that 1st half was because of that 150+ 2 TD performance. Then then the 2nd half came and there was nothing. Calvin wasn't why they lost no doubt but they could've used a 150 TD performance in that 2nd half as well.

His stats look great and he had a solid game but I also believe forcing to Calvin resulted into a INT for Stafford. But they also had a bunch of drops and i'd rather live and die by Calvin than Kevin Ogletree.

Garrett just needs some time tbh. Hell get this straightened out . Just you watch

But seriously I bet he's Not too bad. The players aren't as big strong or fast as their opponents

Each week Calvin Johnson is never slowed down. Every defense knows who is going to get the ball.

So why is it so hard for Dez our best receiver to find the ball. Dez may not be Calvin...but close to it. Coaching has to be the reason. I just don't understand anymore.

Calvin is very far ahead of Dez in route running, discipline, and has something like A 45 inch vertical leap. He is also very tall.

He is much better than Dez in every facet of his game and his intellect is such that he is self aware and can dominate with both his physical tools and brains.

I agree some of this is play design and play calling. But if you were here for Emmitt and Irvin, they were just light years better than most on the field.

Same with CJ.

Of course it does.

Saints, 7-9 last year with the worst defense ever. Sean Payton comes back and he brings in Rob Ryan. Now they're 8-2.

I think the Saints were like 13-3, 11-5 and 13-3 in the three seasons prior to Payton's suspension. He's out and the team stumbles to a sub-.500 record. He comes back and now they're right back on track to win double-digit games.

Megatron is a bonafide freak and may not be the best example, but here's a couple others to help illustrate the point.

Antonio Brown leads the league with 74 catches, Steelers don't really have much else in receiving options, Sanders and Cotchery are average, teams know Ben wants to throw to Brown and they still find ways to get him the ball.

Andre Johnson is 2nd with 72 catches. Who else are the Texans throwing the ball too? Everyone and their dog knows they want to throw to AJ, been that way a long time. Sure, Deandre Hopkins is having a decent rookie year, but so is T-Dub. AJ gets his catches year after year, why not Dez?

AJ Green tied for 3rd. Again, is it a surprise that the Bengals are gonna throw the ball to him?

Pierre Garcon tied for 3rd. Pretty much their only WR unless you count Santana Moss....lol

Brandon Marshall 5th this year. Sure Alshon Jeffery has done a great job this year and taken some pressure off Marshall, but he also had 118 catches last year. Did Cutler even attempt a pass to any one else other than Marshall last year? You knew, I knew it, the Man on the Moon knew the ball was going to Marshall. And like Andre, Marshall gets his catches year after year.

Teams find ways to get the ball to their play makers, unless of course, it's a JG coached team.

Get the ball into Dez's hands! No Excuses!

JG is just not a very good HC. This is underlined by how poorly we have done after bye's and when we have had extra time between games.

You look at Reid's record after bye's; Bellicheats record after bye's. Peyton's record after bye's. That is what separates the real thing from the wannabe's.

One only has to look at the resurgence of teams like Seattle once Carroll got there, San Francisco once Harbaugh got there, and Kansas City once Reid got there. In a league with salary cap limitations, you have to find advantages in other areas, with coaching being one of the most important areas. Saying that coaching doesn't matter is like saying companies don't need CEOs and that it's all up to the workers.

Calvin is the first read on most Lions passing plays. If you watch Romo you can normally see who/where the primary reads are in the Cowboys offense and unless he has obvious single coverages Dez is usually not the primary read.. That is a coaching problem. Dez should be the primary read a lot more often than he is regardless of the coverage..

You never see anyone saying we turned the ball over because we tried to force Dez the ball and to be honest I wouldn't be outraged if we had some negative plays at least attempting to get him the ball.. Rather give the kid a chance to make a play than to keep going 3 and out over and over again.
