Coaching Matters

We've always had flaws on our teams, but we have also had talent. There was a thread here the other day, we have what the most drafted pro bowlers since 2014?The problem has always been coaching. Dave Campo, Wade Phillips, Jason Garret was allowed to not win here for 10 years. The only guy that actually did more with less was bill parcels (and that was with a flawed roster).

We can talk offense, we can talk defense. Who's at fault. But coaching matters in the nfl, culture matters. The minute Mike Mccarthy was allowed to stay on as coach after the GB debacle it sent a message of mediocrity. I can guarantee if Bellicheck is your coach today's game doesn't happen. Because he holds guys accountable. The culture of being losers wouldn't be a thing.

News flash for everyone, every nfl roster has some flaws. None are perfect. It's coaching that makes the difference. Unfortunately it isn't a priority for this franchise and the owner. Same old story.

But truthfully how can he hold players accountable. He's going to inherit a team of guys he didn't put together, there's going to be huge deals and money being owed to these players. If they mess up and don't play well in a few games, what's he going to do cut them or bench them? I don't think so! Now if you're a player like Izzy Mukwamu, or or someone else who isn't making big money, you'll be cut instantly

How would Belichick hold our players "accountable" that would be more productive than Mike McCarthy?

I think there are a few things Jerry can do to stop the bleeding, which has been going on since the Bills loss last season.

- Take the offensive play calling away from Big Mike
- Give Zim complete control over the defense. Where is the AAGap scheme????

It's there you didn't see it, they came to the line several times today, acting as if they were going to blitz, but pulled back

We were outclassed today in Defense

We missed assignments, didn’t play with leverage, lost contain and were outflanked over and over and the D line was getting blown 3-5 yards off the ball

This team better find a way to match up with motion and misdirection or we need to get used to what we watched today

This game was on the defense

Let’s relax a little guys.

The Cowboys will be fine.

Judge them in the playoffs.. Stuff happens in the regular season but no showing in the playoffs is what should be the cause of all of our gripe.

Our division is trash and I’m not so sure the entire conference isn’t trash.

Bring in a new offensive game plan, go up to jerry and tell him to back off
I can understand the 2nd part of that post, but I’m not sure how much more he can do with the offense.

You have a shaky oline, you lack a starting caliber RB, WR depth isn’t good past Lamb, and your starting TE is out. He tried to get Turpin involved but he just isn’t that much of a threat if he can’t run routes and catch the ball.

This offense is completely dependent upon young guys developing quickly and old guys turning back the clock. I think this is more a jerry/stephen problem than it is a McCarthy issue. Fans just don’t like that answer because Jerry/stephen will never fall on the sword.

Oh stop it. This is a joke of a post. How about he scheme something up to help his team. Look at what these other offensive minds do. They scheme things up. Carr looked like Elway today. That’s coaching.

Hehe. Coaching will never matter until ownership changes. What coach out there is gonna come in here and turn things around?

The very bad loss and play is out of the way early. Better now than later on.
They have time to adjust and regroup. Even the coaching staff.

Now only if I can convince myself that is really true. :muttley:

Coaches seem content to be employed, comfortable with Jerry overseeing their every decision. In a previous post, I mentioned that nearly no one on the staff deserves their current position, except perhaps Al Harris and the defensive line coach.

Good question, and the answer depends on how much control he actually has. The perception is that he has almost no control whatsoever, that Jerry has his tentacles attached to every damn thing within the organization. And if that is true, it won't matter who the HC is, the results are going to be the same.
