It was a coaching meltdown on that particular play.
last I heard we were allowed to point out questionable calls.

And the sky is not falling, but the Cowboy braintrust needs to play to win or catch up and not play meek and roll up into a ball.

I don't think Phillips made the call with the feeling he was giving up. I agree it was a questionable call but I don't think it was a sign of some coaching meltdown.

OK, I can forgive Wade for that.

What I can't forgive is having a glass of water during the game.
I guess we know who DOES NOT wear the pants in the family, Mr. No-Thanks-I'm-having-some-tap-water.

:laugh1:

The rest of the story: I had just played a 2nd round game where my team went to Mobile AL Saturday night and spanked the Port City Monarchs 24-0. We now go to Nashville to play the Storm this Saturday night. I play in the NAFL (developmental league, semi-pro, minor league.. whatever you want to call it) www.nafl.org

I was at the house of one of my team members from work and, being his supervisor, I didn't want to sit in his house and get liquored up on beer. I was also feeling pretty dehydrated after having played a tough game Saturday. Hence the glass of ice water. I actually had like 4 of em. :)

Just curious.

I want to know the consensus about this peculiar move by Wade.

Fourth quarter, maybe 9 minutes left. Cowboys with fourth down at the 5-yard line. Two TDS behind.
Wade goes for a measley 3-pount field goal.

I thought he should have gone for the TD. Worse case scenario, the Cowboys turn it over on the 5 and the Pats are backed up. Giving the defense a chance to make something happen.
Best case scenario: The Cowboys make the TD and don't have such a Sisyphean task in catching up.

Wade, though with way more pluses than negatives, at least in this instance, made a decision while running scared.

He's allowed, but next time, play to win. Or at least catch up.

I am going to argue in favor of the coach here if only to offer some balance to the dog-piling.

IF Dallas could have held NE to a field goal at say 6 mins left then at least you break even in that exchange. If you allow a TD then what is the point of risking a 4th and goal from the 5 anyways??

The defense simply had to come through there with some semblance of an effort and did not. Doesn't matter how many you score once you are behind if you do not play defense.

Asking the defense to get off the field was a problem but then again that call doesn't change that.

Saying we suck and are gonna lose so let's just go for it on every 4th down is not the answer... not even in Madden, lol.
