I always prefer to kick.

But I think I read that statistically it makes no real difference.

It makes no difference whatsoever, but I'll admit it feels better to defer, because I like being able to think about how we'll get the ball to start the second half.

I prefer to defer more often than not. Most coaches lately do.

Lot's of factors...here are a few (not all)

• Visiting crowd noise
• Home crowd noise
• Confidence in offense
• Confidence in defense
• Field position expectations
• Hope for an extra possession
• Weather forecast for 1st vs 2nd half
• Wind direction
• Sun direction
• Opponent's style of play (fast, slow, etc)
