Except that he beat his man most of the afternoon and Dak missed him continually.

Don’t feel like finding it but pretty sure of the 13 targets he saw only 7 were catchable, 6 of which he caught. 2 of them being remarkable plays on his part

Remarkable? Hope you're not talking about the opening play of the game.

Dez isn't winning those one on one matchups, he absolutely got swallowed up by the CB on this play SMH...

Having Switzer and Cole out there at the same time probably tips off that it's a pass. Also, Switzer got zero playing time due to injury.

I'm not exactly pleased with the offense, but I think we are fretting over it too much. When your offense dominates the game in the first half and time of possession and your defense gives up 22 points at home in the 2nd half, I'd rather focus on that.

It's also a tip off that it's a run when Dez is out. They like to get him off the field on runs because he won't block.

More Butler. His best target.

Butler has a little Irvin in him.

Love that comeback to help the QB out!

Finding that spot and sitting there! These coaches are so clueless

Swaim has the ability to be a contributor on offense, where is he at?

Same route, same stride:

]

Irvin at 15:39, butler at 1:33

Get guys on the field who run the routes that compliment Daks strengths! #Butler. Make Williams more of a primary option

Deep ball to Dez vs Deep ball to Butler: which side you on?

Play Swain

Even Boy Wonder had a hard time hitting Dez in stride.

Some of the things you are saying are true but it doesn't tell the whole story. You can't just look at 3rd down and come to a conclusion that the offense performed as well in the second half as the first had Dez and Twill caught their passes.

The biggest difference between the two halves is how we performed on 1st and 2nd down. Not 3rd down. So if you are comparing how well the Rams defense did against us between the halves, you need to look at 1st and 2nd down more so than 3rd down plays.

I agree. Haven't looked at the game logs yet, but was the 2nd half offensive drives consisting more of 3rd and 6+?
IIRC the first and second down plays weren't as effective as they were in the first half. Zeke wasn't fed the ball as much, and on some downs couldn't get more than a yard or 2. Which puts us in 3rd and long, something the team hasn't been great at converting.

Preposterous. We run all of the time with Dez and Dez isn't a bad blocker or unwilling to block. You're making stuff up now.

With Dez out our only deep threat is Butler and we usually go with bigger personnel like 13 and 12 which is a running personnel for us.

Well said, but No one expects the Defense to hold up or do much. The defense is best when the Offense is clicking and winning TP. The GM/Owners have not invested in veteran players to help out....they are going to struggle with all the youth on D. They knew that coming into the season.

The offense shouldn't have to carry the defense every single game. Even when it does...sooner or later that will catch up to you as we found out last season.

I'm just disappointed by our D-Line (sans Lawrence) and the fact that when Sean Lee is out the defense is going to give up 30 points easily.

It turns out teams realized the only one who ever gets open 1v1 is Cole.
Which angers me to no end.. Dez has got to win more of those on on one battles with the top dog CB. Not knocking Dez (before ppls undies get all wadded up).. Just stating the obvious.

Dez has gone up against 4 in your face corners. Him getting consistent separation is not going to happen.
I'm not making an excuse, either, just stating those types of corners he just has had an issue with. His route running isn't good enough to beat those type of guys consistently.
It is frustrating seeing that Dez and Dak still seem off. Think the # is 16 catches on 40 targets.

We converted 9 times on 1st or 2nd down in the first half vs only 3 times in the second half. We were clearly doing better on 1st and 2nd down in the first half. That was the big difference between the two halves.

The offense has scored 28 and 30 points in the last two games, without the benefit a takeaway by the defense in either game.

There are a lot of things that make winning difficult, but your offense scoring 28-30 points isn't one of them.
Yeah, agreed we should win with 30. But last year we went 13-3 because our offense kept our defense off the field with a huge TOP. Can't do that with a bunch of 3 and outs during the game. So if our defense could stop anybody it would be fine.

Dak is where he is at and its a normal place to be year 2. We just aren't going to win a lot of games if TOP is equal whether we put up 30 or not.
