With all of the uproar over the latest Dez news, I thought it might be a nice change of pace. Granted, the following video is a highlight video and tells the most favorable story against not-the-best-of-talent, it still suggest that Beasley has alot more to offer then what has been tapped into thus far. He's a cross between Witten and Dunbar; he doesn't have elite speed, but he knows how to create separation with his route running and above-average quicks in a way that makes him an easy target, despite is smaller size.

I think he is in for an expanded role in the upcoming year...or, at least, I hope so.

Cole is absolutely elite getting in and out of his cuts...one of the best in the league at that.

If he'd been also born with elite speed or more size/strength...wow...he'd be all-pro. Without either size or top straight-line speed his game will always be limited but he's sure surpassed my expectations.

I remember when we signed him as an undrafted FA, most people were excited about Danny Coale rather than Beasley. Beasley was my pet cat in 2012 and he's done everything I thought he would do. And from what I'm reading, he and Romo are building even more chemistry this offseason.

I saw from his highlights and his route running ability that he had what it takes to be successful in the NFL as a slot receiver.

I honestly think his speed is just fine. That run against the Giants shows he has better speed than most think.

You see him getting caught from behind even in some of those college highlights. The straight-line speed just isn't there. But again...he's got to be top-5 NFL when it comes to quicks in his cuts and he consistently generates quick separation that way.

Suffice it to say, many offerings of Cole Beasley receptions may be served on a regular basis in 2015.

It would be awesome if the sound track was the Lollipop Guild.

I always thought Dwayne Harris was a more complete player as in Returner/receiver/ etc but I guess I was wrong. The fact that Beasley is a better route runner sealed Harris's fate I guess......

Dang... That's a ton of good highlights for a wr's college career. The dude knows how to get "wide" open. If something was to happen to Witten, Beasley could very well pick up that slack. And probably with better results(ypc and catch%)

IMO, Beasley is somewhat a freak of nature. For him to be playing(and playing the way that he does) at his size and stature... I think it really says something about his athletic abilities.

You're right.

Football at this level requires real discipline, and that frequently is the deciding factor between great athletes.

You were not necessarily wrong; I think most would agree that Harris would have been a great piece to keep considering his contributions all over the field; I think the Cowboys would have loved to keep him, just not at that price. I think the Cowboys gambled when they let Harris test the market, likely under the impression that given his diminished returns in returning the football in 2014 he wouldn't garner the offer that he did. Beasley being a quarterback-friendly reliable receiver who can instantly get open with the plant of his foot was someone the Cowboys were a little more concerned about the offers he would field, because like I said in the OP, they have only scratched the surface of his potential. As for Harris, in my opinion, what you see is what you get at this point in his career.

No, no I know, I was just messing with you.

I think Beasley is terrific in the role he played in 2014. I hope they don't try to expand his role too much and make him less effective.

Here's why I disagree:

With Beasley's innate ability to find space, the only consistent way to stop him, is to box him in with outside and inside coverage's. If the defense is forced to commit resources to stop him, like they do with Bryant and Witten, that means more space to work with for all of the offensive skill players.

He's a gamer. He is one of those guy's who, no matter the sport, he's one of the first guy's you pick to be on your team. You can tell he loves to compete. You don't brave that storm of 300 pound bodies who actually want to hurt you if you don't love it.

Observe:

These were just a few that I could find, but if memory serves, I'm sure there are more.

I'd trade him for a kicker.

We already have a kicker; the clutchest kicker in the history of kickers, in fact. Now if an elite punter was on the table, I might think about it...
