they're trying to pretend that they give a **** because it's the current fad. this is no way reducing the severity of the incidents, but they've been a part of the NFL and life since the first caveman was pissed at no pie at home for him.

doesn't make it right, no. but the actions to "combat it" are even more stupid and do nothing that i can see to address the real problem.

Well stated.

What did this dude tweet anyhow? I see people ask, but the response seems to have been removed or something.

I probably shouldn't even ask this crap.

Here it is in a nutshell Sam--

Tony had a Fantasy Football Festival planned in the Sands Convention Center in Las Vegas with 100 players and fans attending. It was going to allow fans to interact with players on all kinds of things including fantasy football. He had guys like Gronk and Demarco, etc lined up and has been promoting it for awhile with his name attached. Last week the NFL cancelled the event saying it did not want andy NFL events held in casinos (technically it was a convention center.)

Tony was the point man and after all the planning and marketing he felt the cancellation two weeks before the event was weak and unfair to fans who had booked tickets and the communications the league sent out to players planning to attend were more warnings than anything else.

Romo went on Colin's show (who was also scheduled to attend) and basically told him he was upset at the double standard the league has when the Lions are opening up an MGM suite at Ford Field, not to mention how the league backhandedly embraces wagering as part of it's allure but acts holier than thou on a fan festival in Vegas. Colin was equally put off by the whole thing as well

The man in charge of the NFL Twitter account posted a tweet after the league cancelled the event and Tony sounded off about it by showing a picture of Romo with his hands up like a wave. The Tweet was "Hi Tony" which was nothing more than rubbing it in. The Tweet was taken down an hour later but some fans captured it and posted it (someplace in here). The tweet got legs in social media and took off creating a story of it's own on Yahoo, MSN, etc.

Cowherd and Mark Dominic, former NFL executive felt it was unprofessional for a corporate guy in his position in the league office to do something like that and named him on the air and mocked him a bit. The debate here has extenuated to whether this is all nothing or was the tweet inappropriate for an NFL league rep. Add to that several "Cowboy Rules" that have been mentioned in the thread over the years along with the Dez call and well - you get the picture, some fans think the NFL has it in for the Boys.

To be honest - it's the perfect mid June-thread. Mildly interesting, extremely inconsequential, but apparently wildly entertaining as evidenced by 4,000 views.

It's not that at all.

They shut down Tony's event very abruptly. He then complained about it on a radio show and the NFL's official response was a mocking Tweet telling him to take his complaints and shove them.

If you can't see that as completely inappropriate because you don't understand technology, don't try to insult those that get it.

Understanding that one man's use of twitter doesn't paint the entire executive branch of the NFL or define their response means I don't understand technology? That's just about the most ignorant thing I've ever read here.

It was one guy. Maybe he shouldn't have done it, but it's not a big deal in the least and is mutually exclusive from the NFL shutting down Tony's event, which I definitely did not agree with.

You were the one that started with the name calling. You implied that anyone that said it was inappropriate, which it was, was a 'trophy for losers" type. That was pretty ignorant.
