You know this is going to drive the Dak lovers insane… well said and all true
And it has been true for a while. 90% of Daks 'reputation' is built on the comeback myth.. when he puts up 200 yards of meaningless stats against prevent defences to pull within 2 TD's.. I've also never seen a franchise QB so keen to stay in the game even when it over.. just to ensure his own stat line looks good in the paper.

I don't agree with most of Cowherd but he has been pretty consistent that Dak is not special for a while.. has been trying to say for years that he is Cousins.. a solid slightly above average game manager. This is not news.

Zeke absolutely carried him in 2016 and Dak should 100% be giving Zeke money for life.. most charmed career in NFL history. Got handed the keys to the kingdom and managed to drop, fumble and mismanage all of it. If only we had gone back to Romo in 2016 like so many of us wanted. Jersey sales.. friggen jersey sales...

It seems two sides are having two different arguments. Read the original post. Cowherd was talking about Dak's REPUTATION. In fact, Cowherd's own comment implies at some point Dak must have had a good reputation if he can live off of it now. The debate is not whether Dak is playing well now, or ever played well, for that matter. The question is about Dak's reputation, deserved or otherwise. There are a million threads to talk about how much Dak sucks. In fact every thread on this forum just about eventually turns into a critique of Dak for some reason. But the fact is, no matter how much you hate Dak, or how bad you think he is as a QB, this particularly thread is supposed to be about his reputation as a QB. I am arguing only that Dak had a solid reputation coming into 2024. I have supported this argument by posting FACTS about his 2023 performance and accolades. These are facts, not my opinions. You cannot argue that after his 2023 season Dak had a bad reputation coming into 2024 if he just won pro-bowl, and all-pro voting and came in second in MVP voting. Clearly, his reputation was good after last season and expectations were high for him in 2024. He is not playing up to his reputation. I admit that. Giving him $60 million was dumb. I admit that. He looks terrible in 2024. and perhaps going into 2025 his reputation will suffer as a result of his performance this year. But to argue he is "living off his reputation" after 8 games in 2024, and one of those games he engineered a game winning drive over a 6-2 Steelers team, is just nonsense from a talking head who spews a lot of nonsense when it comes to Dallas.

Can't argue with Cowboys fans about Dak. No matter what Dak haters think, you simply will not accept or allow that others do not think the same way. The fact is, and show me some proof otherwise, outside of this forum of intransigent Dak haters, he is well thought of around the NFL or was before this season. No one thinks of him as a top 3 or 5 QB, but that does not mean that most everybody else does not think think he is a good QB. We are talking about a reputation, deserved or not. Certain members of the media have criticized Dak throughout his career, but they are a minority.

I am not hear to argue Dak's merits as a QB, but I will argue that his reputation around the league coming into this season was very good. I know this bothers the heck out of Dak haters but facts are facts.

In 2023 Dak was second in QB all-pro voting. was selected to the pro-bowl and was Next Gen Stats, All-Pro QB. You want to think Dak sucks? Fine, you are entitled to your opinion. But Dak's 2023 awards indicated that many others disagree. Hence, my argument that his reputations was just fine last coming into 2024.
Or what Dak lovers think.

Same trash.
