Collapse or wake-up call?

Is this the start of our annual collapse, or is this a wake-up call to the team prior to going to the playoffs? It'll be up to the coaches to instill a mindset into this team that hasn't been instilled for a while. Typically, this time of the season, the Cowboys get crushed by a team. It then serves as a needle to pop the Cowboys balloon. Unfortunately, at this time, it feels like a repeat of the same film. See if once and you see a typical Cowboys season.

However, I would like to hold out the faintest of hope that the Cowboys coaches will instead use this as the kick in the pants that a lot of playoff teams get to remind them that they've not won anything yet. As painful as this was, let's be honest. The Cowboys were getting really cocky. The amount of bulletin board material they put out against a team that was going to be desperate for a win to stand a chance at making the playoffs was stupid. Putting people's faces on the tackling and blocking sleds, then putting it on social media for all to see, then the whole Ferguson smack talking leading into this game. I think the team came into this game, similarly to the Cardinals game, expecting to just walk in, grab a win, and get home. They forgot to actually play the game.

One of the big areas that needs to be fixed is the personal fouls. The three personal fouls that our defence/ST committed resulted in TDs. This along with Martin's injury led to the game getting out of hand. So, I'll close this thread out by saying this. Is this the start of a collapse, or is this a wake-up call? Only the FO, coaches, and players can answer that.
wake up call about our run defense. it was horrendous. its been average to bad all year. against a better team we got owned. second time this year we have given up 200+ rushing yards. you are not going to win games giving up that much.

I remember last year, when we lost in Week 18 at Washington and EVERYONE was SO SURE we'd lose the following week at Tampa Bay in the playoffs.

This team bounces back pretty well after a loss. I expect Miami to have their hands full next week.
In the playoffs there is no next game.

What is this “annual collapse” you speak of is it something real or some media mumbo jumbo?
If you’ve been a fan since the Romo days, it’s the annual Dec collapse before the playoffs.

Good teams pick up steam, not lose it. Happens every year.

..and I may be completely wrong here, but Dak doesn't seem to do well with extreme crowd noise.

I could see that, and it shouldn't expect to be easier. If this team wants to actually be something special and not another footnote in NFL history, then these are the games that must be won.
Here and now they had best become forged in fire...and start games ready to take a lead. Enough special team mistakes and the right side of the offensive line giving up focus and being taken advantage of.

Opponents are holding and dictating failure of Parsons. That isn't being opened by the rest of the box area. There can be focus applied...

Exactly, and, as for the Micah holds, Mike needs to be in the refs ears about that.

2 years ago they went 4-0 in December before losing a WC game at home to the 49ers. Tell me again about the "annual" Dec collapse
This year's December is a tough one...the team plays football and aren't stupid, no matter when and where momentum is affected. A term, forged in fire makes a steel level at some point.

and reset .
Dude I don't know what that means but if you're hoping for the Cowboys to finish the season terribly so they get rid of what the quarterback all the coaches you want that kind of reboot are you just talking about the game itself with a meltdown and that next week we reset and move on because I really hope you're not out here hoping for failure.,.. and by the way there are a bunch of fans wit that terrible attitude.

there are constants with this team and have been for years/decades.

1. If the opponent out physicals the cowboys it’s a wrap.
2. They can’t come back from a deficit .
3. McCarthy really can’t manage a game/change a game-plan during a game. Lotta dumb/bonehead mistakes that a coach can’t make.
4. This team beats itself with dumb mistakes and penalties.

Today was the cowboys we see in playoffs. They really don’t have a killer instinct. They will be eliminated in the playoffs with a game like this. 1 step forward 3 steps back.
apparently, you missed the Seattle game where we played from behind quite a bit AND WON
also to add to your list seattle went to 2 Sbowls and won one should have won the 2nd leading the league in Penalty's .

i believe seattle and philly in back to games and the cowboys out physical them.
maybe just maybe this has more to do with a lot of dudes sick and injured on the road and it snowballed after those 2 game before it.. hmmm

Hard to say, if they get back on track and have a playoff run then this will be a game that resets them, other than the kicker huge mirrors need to be delivered to every locker, the one at #4 and #11 locker needs to have "Are you looking at the leader of this team?" on them....

ok I’ll play your game and give you Seattle. And superbowls? What does this current Seattle team have to do with the superbowls Russel Wilson and co won and also with our ineptitude of beating teams that smack us in the mouth? And actually for that Seattle game we were winning from The start, actually had a pretty nice lead and then Seattle came back through the physical play and we barely
Won.

Let’s look at the other games we lost this season. Arizona came out the gate and smacked us in the mouth, we looked shell shocked and couldn’t believe a team we were supposed to win wasn’t rolling over for us, we lost. SF and bills smacked us in mouth from the start as we got beat early and couldn’t come back.

Annual collapse??? Guess what.... there are 31 teams who have an annual collapse if they don't win the Superbowl.

Not just the Cowboys exclusively.

blueblood70 could actually be correct. The additions of injury and players out always have to overcome. Tough is added on with those roster problems by a good team playing lights out, an away game, and a fistfull of drive killing or opponent assisting penalties. The momentums for Dallas were thrown off an entire set of games...to include crowd noise and slow response to individual plays being attempted.

Collapse or wake-up call?

How about neither. We are what we are. Same as last 2 years.
  • Great pass rush team.
  • Good offense, but sometimes inconsistent.
  • Undersized and can be out-physical'd by strong O-Lines and Run Teams.
  • Struggle when we don't get an early lead.
And unfortunately, I just described opponents that usually go far in the Playoffs.
