Take James out of that equation, and I'm a fan.

Bill said last year at TC that he DIDN'T want to use James as a three down player but he might have to. Bill knew he wasn't good in the nickel.

Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater -- James can be a very effective run stopper and he's one of only guys on the D who takes an actual leadership role. If used properly, he can be a good contributor.

When Carpenter finally got his act together, he clearly outplayed James. He's more versatile, more athletic, bigger, faster, and far better in coverage. James is still one of our best players against the run, but thats where his value ends...at least in regards to his play most of last year.

And as I get to your next post, I see we are in agreement.

I saw it mentioned some where recently that Ellis might be moved inside on some passing situations.

Oh, no. More belly-aching from Ellis!!!!

Early in his career -- when we were horribly thin at DT, Ellis played inside on passing downs a bit.

I do think Ratliff and Spears are more likely to get that job though.

Are you saying blitz all four like this? :D

I doubt we will see much of that, but I suspect we will see alot of Spencer/Ware blitzing.

(not directed AT you nyc)

These pictures are about as basic as it gets in the Wade Phillips defensive scheme.

Its absolutely mind boggling watching a Chargers game from 2006 and seeing a crap load of different blitzes, stunts, alignments, and other methods of getting into the offensive backfield.

I did a video comparison of the Chargers 2006 and Cowboys 2006 defenses on another forum. I will try to put up a page on my site soon showcasing that video comparison I made.

If you haven't seen Wade Phillips' defense in action... you'll be blown away how much more aggressive and well planned it is over the Cowboys 2006 defense.

If you were trying to confirm that our defense will be a terror...[SUCCESSFUL!]

If you were trying to pump me up about our defense...[SUCCESSFUL!]

From all that I have read so for from Mini Camp, Wade really like Canty & Ratliss in the middle with Ware and either Spncer palying DE. Plus you can not forget Hatcher. They are really high on him.

I made a page just to show what I posted.

Go to www.cowboysvids.com
Look on the right under "2007 Clips" and click the link for the "Comparison Videos"

(or go straight there by clicking here)

That is some truly outstanding work sir.

Thank you for the comparison and renewing my utmost prayer that Mike Zimmer never puts on a headset for the Dallas Cowboys organization again.
