body bagged

Simmons was always better on paper than on TV.......the Boston Sports Guy in the Globe was the best mix of sports and Gen X pop culture

Bill Simmons is dope, but Collinsworth burned him there.

Any Given Wednesday tried too hard, and like @bkight13 said, he wasn't meant for the screen (and I watched every episode).

Still, Bill Simmons will eat Collinsworth's lunch if he so chooses.

@WoodysGirl check out The Ringer if you haven't yet. World class sports journalism that is respectful to Romo and ran/owned by Simmons. He signed almost every credible journalist in the industry, ala Pitchfork Media or AV Club/The Dissent

To this day, I've never seen sports alphas (Charles Barkley for example) bow down to Simmons they way they do. He has mad, mad respect in the field.

Gotta disagree......CC is approaching HoF level for TV Sports guys.......Simmons can't hold his jock......CC is just too nice, self-deprecating

Simmons is an innovator, CC is just a good talking head, so yes, we disagree

CC has done every type of sports media well......Simmons is more of a gimmick...don't get me wrong, I read his column for years but it has run its course

He created Grantland and the Ringer and conceived the highly influential and critically acclaimed 30 for 30 documentaries for ESPN. Stop, B. Collinsworth is an incredible color-commentator, one of the best, but he doesn't hold a candle to the impact and regard that Simmons has in the field. It isn't close, and frankly, I'm surprised I'm having this argument with a sports guy like yourself.

Sometimes it's okay to acquiesce.

Simmons is amazing, Collinsworth punked him, and now it's squashed. Much to the betterment for Collinsworth. Simmons is a sports media icon, CC has color-commentated some Super Bowls and lost in one that he played in (Bengals; honorable mention to the great Anthony Muñoz).

He is steady with the great (and national treasure) Al Michaels, but let's not lose ourselves here.

Bill Simmons is a juggernaut in the last vestiges of legitimate sports journalism. I'm surprised he isn't revered in these parts, where people like Skip Bayless and Stephen A Smtih get so much attention.

Bill Simmons and CC in the same sentence is laughable and seems like an argument for argument's sake.

If Simmons wanted to, he would destroy Collinsworth. Destroy him.

Simmons is a media pioneer.

Collinsworth is blathering bag of hot air and Simmons' and Cousin Sal's riffs on him are hilarious.

Collinsworth's broadcasts are so formulaic; you're guaranteed to hear one of two (if not both) things: "[Player X] may be the best in the game at [...]" and/or "I don't think I've ever seen [describes some play] in an NFL game before."

It got squashed because Simmons is a coward. If it were a lesser media personality he would've waged war.

They're friends. If you've listened to Simmons, he's always said Collinsworth and Al Michaels are his favorite broadcast team. And, Collinsworth is the one that reached out to him.
