I must be missing something......

I believe he has filed an appeal.

Why is he not allowed to play during that time?

If he is found the be right, the league can't remedy the situation because the games would have already been played.

Has anyone heard a timetable as far as how long the appeals process will take in this case?

If the league feels like dragging it there's no real sense in appealing.....unless you can play in the interim.

Elliott played during his appeal. Whats the difference for Collins?

Also of note.....Jerry does not appear to be upset, at least not publicly that I have seen.

It is strange. I don’t think the Joneses want another situation like the had with Zeke. Allegedly the owners threatened to take the Cowboys away from him like the Clippers did with their owner.

I thought I had read where he already filed an appeal, it was upheld - then he filed another appeal which was likely to get denied based off the first one. I might be completely wrong though :)

I'm fully expecting him to have to serve out the ridiculous punishment....while in other news, it's that time of year again - Josh Gordan is about to be reinstated for the 100th time.

From what I have read/heard about it, this whole thing is total BS anyway. He was tested 10/month, for a year and half! That's at least 2 a week for 65 weeks and passed everyone of them. But because he missed 7 tests over those weeks, due to various circumstances, many of which were the Cowboy's issues and they hit him with a 5 game suspension for it! Sounds awfully funny to me.

Good luck with that. There is a vast difference between Donald Sterling and Jerry Jones when it comes to how much power each holds in their respective leagues.

I don’t see where they came up with 5 games. If it’s for weed then he failed a lot of tests. They raised the limit of the amount you can have in your system. He couldn’t quit after the first failed test. Unreal.

The only person publicly outraged is Collins' agent.

That suggests to me that the team believes there's validity to it, since we haven't seen the reaction we saw during the Zeke suspension drama.

He wasn't suspended for failed tests. He was suspended for missing tests. It's been deemed "failure to cooperate", which is open to suspension per the CBA.

When Dallas resigned him for 9 million I thought it was one of the best contracts they have ever done. Since then, he's been out for a season due to injuries that resulted from being out of shape & now a suspension due to substance abuse. Great job Collins!

I’d like to read that if you have the link
Never mind
I found it

The amount of times you can be tested is also part of CBA and unless you have failed tests you can’t be tested that often

....well, he did or missed something. NFL doesn't pull things of the air. Lets just hope, its minor.

I say just move on from him. Collins quit on the team last year. He didn’t look good in preseason. He just wants to get paid and his heart is elsewhere. Let him go.

I’d rather watch some player out there giving his all, even if he makes a few mistakes.

Yeah but the NFL is a club that everyone wants to be a part of. They probably can’t get Jones out but they can cause issues with his sons when Jerrah passes away. It is best for the Joneses to play nice.

He never failed a test over that entire span. They are saying he missed tests on days the team sent players home for Covid-related reasons. The language on "failure to cooperate" is vague as it is apparently different from just missing a test, it's more along the lines of you are there for the test and then the tester asks you to do something and you refuse, which doesn't sound like the case. There is nowhere in the rules that a 5 game suspension is mentioned, it goes from 4 games and then up to 8. The bottom line is we don't really know what is going on and we may never know. Such is the power of The Commissioner.
