What I don't understand is if he knew he missed something, how were they all shocked?

Also why five games? Seems excessive, especially when the rules dont say it's five games for any violation.

Just trying to see if anyone's heard anything beyond what's been posted here because it seems as if he is definitely missing this week's game.

How does the league fix that after the fact? They can't, which is why players typically play during appeals.

Like other suspensions. They just do what they want and don’t have to explain anything. Or don’t bother to.
 
-----If the league feels like dragging it there's no real sense in appealing.....unless you can play in the interim.

Elliott played during his appeal. Whats the difference for Collins?

Also of note.....Jerry does not appear to be upset, at least not publicly that I have seen.

I do NOT understand Boogers taking it lying down and asking for more....very upsetting!!!
 
We can trash Goodell / the NFL all we want but nobody in this organization is surprised at the result. That is all I need to know about the situation.
 
Gonna take a total guess......

He never got as far as filing an actual appeal because the team doesn't want to relive the Elliott fiasco.

They probably realize he has no shot to win an appeal since the system is rigged and it isn't worth our opponent never being called for holding during the entire time.....and if you're going to lose him, let's get it out of the way now.

This explains why the team announced it so quickly.

They don't want him appealing and making a thing of it.

Question remaining......if his problem with showing up was that world situation that we can't mention casually, why has no one else had this issue?

Sounds like there's at least a little bit to it, and the agent being pissy may be about the team not willing to fight.
 
There was a discussion on 105.3 Monday about this. From what the radio guys were saying, he had not failed a test. He missed tests.

Now they went on to suggest missing a test is not a suspension. It is a fine, as stated in the code of conduct document. So he could miss a test and get fined, but no suspension. If this were pot.

It was speculated Collins was operating under these guidelines. They also said he was not in Dallas a great deal. The radio guys stated he could have gotten a test wherever he was. I don't know this to be the case, and trust the radio guys about like I trust my ex wife's lawyer.

To sum up.

He took a great number of tests for over a year.
His understanding of the repercussions may have led him to believe he could pay a fine and not have to close out of Call of Duty Modern Warfare and go pee in a cup.
The rules do state for specific infractions it is a fine and not suspension.
Possibly he was either operating under a misunderstanding between he and his attorney, or he was told this was an option.
If this was something other than marijuana, it could account for the five game suspension.

But when did his first infraction occur?

Personally, I think this leads back to Goodall and his edict he can suspend a player as he sees fit without recourse. And if that is the case, then this type of punitive action will continue until Jerry is no longer above the ground. Because Goodall has shown in the past he wants people to know he is more important than the guy who owns the most expensive franchise in the league.

As far as the league taking Jerry's team away from him as stated in a post above....Bull Nuggets. That law suit would be EPIC.

One last thing. This burns my arse.
 
Collins filed an appeal, and the suspension was upheld. His status is suspended for the next five weeks.

Keep something in mind here with what you think you know about this - the NFL cannot speak on the record about a player suspension for recreational drugs or steroids other than to announce the player being suspended or the length of time involved. All that you are hearing is from Collins' camp. Who have no incentive to be completely truthful when speaking through the media. Collins' lawyer can say whatever he wants through media channels because he knows the NFL cannot comment on it. It doesn't make what he says truthful, nor does it ensure that he isn't omitting critical information and context that would explain the result.
 
Been saying this since the Zeke suspension....Booger should suspend ALL favors that the league office asks of him...all favors!!!
