Collins RT or LG?

I think they like him there and are content with what he brings. Plus I think they will look to reward him for his efforts in playing injured and they don't want to move him around again. I think he definitely improved as the season went on and I think he will get better.

I'm thinking he has a higher ceiling at LG than he does at RT and I think in a big picture view I just like him better at G depending of course on if we can find a capable RT. I think he can be good there but I think the best 5 we can run out there would have him at LG.

But if you move him back to G then you need to find 2 guys to play RT. One a starter and the other a swing tackle. From what we saw last year I don't know that they can accomplish that.

From what I can tell the guy is a pro bowl caliber type RG and then a good tackle. Unless he just needs one year to get the position down.
 
Collins will be a good RT. He made great strides as the season went on. Leave him there and get us a mean and nasty road grater to play LG.
 
I don't really favor moving Collins again, but ultimately I think he can play either spot, so the real question is whether we can find a better LG or RT through the draft or free agency.

True, but his is far more dominant at guard than he is at tackle.

I'm not sure about RG since I don't think he's played that with the Cowboys but I think he was a better LG than he is at RT. Unfortunately until they get another tackle that can handle the RT position I think we're stuck with Collins at RT.

I thought he performed better at LG. Not sure if he should can go back now. Instead of just replacing Free, the Cowboys had to make it more complicated and have guys moved all over the place, including Green, who played well in relief at LT in 2016 and was a disaster in 2017 probably due to all the camp work at LG.

True. Its probably easier to find a quality guard then tackle.
 
Collins certainly had it rough early on; but steady improvement is the key. That is what you want to see and that is what we got. Now will he make ALL PRO at RT? Probably not. BUT a very solid RT is all you really need. LT is where you need the ALL PRO. Which is why LT is the big question this off season as regards the O line. What is Tyron's long term (3-5 years) outlook? We still need to get a swing tackle though but we could get one in say rd 2 or 3 that would be good enough. IF Tyron does not look good then we have to go first rd for a tackle hoping one is available that is worth that pick when we pick

Dak's development is dependant on getting the OL right. Not to mention Zeke's YPC were off his 2016 avg by a full yard.
 
He needs to improve at RT but I wouldn't keep shuffling him.

Smith, the Cowboys doctors and trainers and Garrett all have said that Smith will be ready to go for the off season programs and expect him to be back to his All Pro self for the 2018 season. I think sometimes some fans look for the worse case scenarios for whatever reasons.

Yes, it is kinda what they said. I think the real scenario is that Smith refused surgery.

As someone who has worked in neurosurgery 30 years I look for this to be a recurring problem unless Smith surgically repairs the area of nerve pressure causing the pain. Non surgical intervention rarely fixes the problem and physical impacts aggravate the problem . In this case 2+2 probably does = 4.

To tell you the truth I don't remember but I also don't remember Smith having 3 different injuries during the 2016 season to come back from or having any surgery to correct any injury he had from the 2016 season. Until it's proven otherwise I'll go with what those who are closest to the situation say over speculation by fans.
