Collins RT or LG?

Thinking about the offense tonight and it all starts up front with the o-line so this should be a big priority this off-season.

While I think the organization will leave LC at RT I'm curious as to what you guys think.

I think they like him there and are content with what he brings. Plus I think they will look to reward him for his efforts in playing injured and they don't want to move him around again. I think he definitely improved as the season went on and I think he will get better.

I'm thinking he has a higher ceiling at LG than he does at RT and I think in a big picture view I just like him better at G depending of course on if we can find a capable RT. I think he can be good there but I think the best 5 we can run out there would have him at LG.

But if you move him back to G then you need to find 2 guys to play RT. One a starter and the other a swing tackle. From what we saw last year I don't know that they can accomplish that.

RT. I said RG before, but we made our decision and cannot keep moving him and messing up his development. He had a pretty good year IMO considering it's his first at the position and he was left on an island often.

He got better as time went on, most quality players would have played well between Fredrick and a healthy Tyron at guard.

RT. He can do both at a high level but you keep him at RT because it's much easier to find a quality OG to fill out the line. It takes less athleticism inside.

Now if the Cowboys find great value in the draft in a RT prospect that changes things. A player like Collins gives you that flexibility.

Totally agree. But we do need an awesome swing tackle. Both he and Smith are injury prone evidently......

I love it when folks keep saying he played better at LG. Of course he did. He’s a talented (considered top five overall in the draft) OL that was sandwiched between two Pro-bowlers his first season.. he should excel at LG. But, that’s not where La’el would prefer to play and that’s not maximizing his talents. The tackle position is the premier position on the OL. He played LG out of necessity when Leary went down last year. The Cowboys wanted La’el to play RT last year.. And although La’el was more talented, he was too inexperienced to surpass the veteran Doug Free. No one will mistaken him for the ‘Autobot’ known as Tyron Smith, yet La’el got better as the year went on even while playing with a bulging disk in his back. He’s not going to give up the RT spot. He’s earned it and deserves the chance to build on his great season.

Definitely but I'd also like to see Zack Martin get reps at LT in the summer. Do it like they did Larry Allen back in the day. Get him ready to play there as much as you can should Tyron go down for a length of time and you don't have a backup OT who can play there at a reasonable level and it has to be a pretty good level considering it's the QB's blindside.

Probably not a popular opinion but I think Martin can be a solid LT in a pinch. Certainly better than the crap we saw there this year when Tyron couldn't play. I also think he's such a stellar OG and has enough experience there that he can afford to miss some time there during the summer. I don't think he needs the reps.

He’s one of the highest paid RTs in the game. Would be stupid to move him to guard. He’s not an all pro guard.

I think he meant awesome as swing tackles go but not really starter material. Like what Chaz should have been until he developed into a starter...that is until we ruined him trying to make him a guard.

Keep him at RT now that you put him there for a year. Guards are easier to find in the draft

Obviously a 1st rd. talent but I think he's physically built to be a guard. Arms too short (for a tackle) and not the excellent tackle footspeed. He played well later in the season simply because of his talent. He can play anywhere but where he has graded good to well at RT he could be an All Pro at guard. He's out of position.
