Martin is having a rough season by his standards.

He's still having a very good year. Maybe not an All-Pro year, but Pro Bowl caliber at least. Collins makes a lot of splash plays but still has some mental things to adjust to. His ceiling is probably higher than Martin but he's not there yet.

Ummmm...no.

Not at this juncture.

Collins still has work to do with understanding stunts and reading blitz pickups. Martin is much better in pass protection all together.

And Martin's technique is far better in run blocking. Collins is still learning the hand placement and the counters to defending players' moves. Martin is far more skilled in that level.

Where Collins has Martin is in athleticism. Martin is very athletic as a guard. There was one play I watched Martin pull left, block this guy, go to the second level and pirouette to shove another defender out of the way and then block another defender. Incredibly hard to do that for a guy of that size and even more difficult to make it look as easy as Martin did.

But, Collins has this incredible explosion and foot speed and he turns his speed into power. He also plays with an incredibly nasty streak like he's angry at the fact that somebody would dare line up across from him.

Now if we could just get away from asking Frederick to block guys that are way out of his position because our playcalling is so stupid at times....that interior O-Line is going to kill people if they stay healthy and progress like they should.

YR

Good post. People see the splash plays Collins makes every game and think he's already great when he has some things to clean up. Martin struggled for a game or two, but he's been his usual self for the most part and is still at this point the better OG.

Who has to play Suh, Martin or Collins? Martin did not play him well in the playoffs last season, so I guess Martin has him this week?

Not if you're Steve Hutchinson or Larry Allen caliber.

Collins is better than Martin already.

Not yet, but i don't know why we're trying to debate either since both are Cowboys for the foreseeable future:flagwave:

What does he bench? He pushed, McCoy which is a beast in his own right, back 3 yards with one shove!

Haha. The one where Tyron jabs the guy in the mug and he just goes down.

That's not up to Dallas. It's up to Miami. Martin isn't moving. Suh is.

seeing him play now it's hard to believe that this kid was inactive for a few games. And it brings me to this question. If Leary had remained healthy and fairly productive, would he even be on the field now?
Here's an example of a kid that got an opportunity and is making it impossible for the coaches to get him off the field.
