...this is from today's USA Today. Speaking about Romo's display of toughness on Sunday...

"It's a little bit like a Philip Rivers moment from the playoffs," NBC analyst Cris Collinsworth says of the San Diego Chargers quarterback's AFC championship game effort on a torn ACL. "If you didn't know what kind of guy Tony Romo is, you know now.

"What impressed me most was I saw Tony do some things with audibles, late reads and hot reads the guys who get it do. You saw Eli Manning come into that last year. Tony's always been a really good thrower, mobile and exciting. But now you're starting to see the cerebral side of it kick in. That makes him and the Cowboys really dangerous."

And if he continues to get it more and more as the year goes on then all the more dangerous we'll be.

Nice comments and I'm sure Tony has improved but I also think some people are starting to appreciate him now. IMO this year he completely shakes the one year wonder or lighting in the bottle moniker(s).

the cerebral part of the game is prolly the most important. all his other skillz are just natural talent.

Yep, he's almost Rivers or Manning... ;)

I hope Romo gets more credit this year. I don't know that I ever seena more popular player who was underappreciated at the same time...maybe Emmitt? Weird.

Anyway. I can honestly say that I wouldn't take a QB in the league over Romo.

Ditto Being able to pick apart a defense like he did Sunday demonstrated that. All the different recievers. The only thing that bothers me sometimes is him trying so hard to force it to TO, but I guess that is not a bad thing at times. Continue to grow and be smart is the key for him. So far so good.

He is just starting his second full season as an NFL QB.

Wait until he is a 4 or 5 yr veteran.

I'm serious, he will be the class of the league.

If we would have used a Day 1 draft pick on him I would be pleased, but to think he was an undrafted FA.

I know I keep saying that, but it blows me away!!

Wouldn't it be great if Romo could become as good as Eli... oh that would be awesome.

Romo would be UNSTOPPABLE!

The only thing that shocks me about this quote is that Collinsworth is praising a Cowboy instead of trashing one.

All NFL quarterbacks spend hours upon hours breaking down Eli game tapes hoping they too can become better decision makers.

Eli is a deer in the headlights, he can only throw it up for grabs...frankly he SUCKS

I don't know how he feels about the rest of the team, but Collinsworth was one of the few (if not only) members of the media who saw something in Romo even before he ever started his first game.

Collingsworth has had plenty of good things to say about the Cowboys. Jamie Dukes is one of the biggest supports :)

Now what really cracks me up about Collinsworth is his persistent need to remind the television audience that we was a wide receiver at one time.

Seriously, next time you listen to him, count the times he reminds you that he was a receiver. Every since I noticed it, I can't listen to him without laughing every time he does it.

Curse EA Sports for making him commentate on Madden '09.

The problem is, people just can't imagine an undrafted free agent playing like the best in the NFL. They can't see how all the professional scouts in the world, missed his talents.

It's taken CC a couple of years to see what us Cowboys' fans knew since TC in '06! ;)

To Collinsworth's credit, he has been praising the Cowboys for two years. He's not a bandwagon jumper.
