Wouldn't it be great if Romo could become as good as Eli... oh that would be awesome.

If Romo could become as good as Eli? You can't be serious. I know Eli won a SB last year but his DL and secondary overachieved and played out of their skin during the playoffs. Eli managed the games well and was allowed to but was not the over decisive factor in NY winning the SB. Romo is a much more prominent player than Eli Manning, much more. The only Manning you should be talking about in this regard is Peyton who is a future Hall of Famer and yes is definitely a much more proven and battle tested QB than Romo.

Let me tell you something though, Romo is a cross section of Brett Favre and Steve Young, he's a totally different type of QB and the NFL hasn't seen this type of QB before. Romo is becoming a heck of an offensive wrinkle and this is why he has been so successful stat wise so early in his career. Romo needs to win a playoff game period, I won't deny that. But there is no reason to believe his skill set and moxie is not up there with the greats. Therefore health permitting and having the other necessary pieces on the team, there is no reason to believe he is not capable of leading any quality team to a championship, especially thisone. Who else has this combination of game management, creativity, accuracy, throwing strength and mobility. He's tough, durable, confident and becoming more and more composed to boot.

The Giants would be a better team if Romo was their QB. Romo has "IT" and Eli doesn't. Brady and Peyton have "IT" and a better throwing arm but not that mobility or on the spot creativity, well Peyton doe's have that creativty too, but not Brady. Here's your top 5 QB's with what they have that makes them Special as their careers stand currently in Today's NFL of course in my opinion and durability aside which is also huge.

1. Peyton Manning: Coach's mind/game management, leadership, throwing power/needle thin accuracy, creativity, superior play calling flexibilty, can bring you back from behind, soon to be all time greatest QB production, definite Hall of Famer, huge IT factor.

2. Tom Brady: Unmatched/legendary composure, leadership, unmatched game management, throwing power/needle thin accuracy, Absolute Ace and no better closer in the NFL today and 2nd to Montana ever, can bring you back from behind, heart and knack for championships, definite Hall of Famer, huge IT Factor.

3. Tony Romo: No one is better at making something out of a nothing play at the QB position today and 2nd to Favre all time in this regard currently, unique combination of Arm strength/Accuracy/Mobility/Game and play recognition/Ball Release, Best at throwing on the run and devistating when given time in the pocket, Becoming one of the best game manager's, Unmatched confidence and charisma, top 5 composure and can bring you back from behind, Outstanding at nailing hot blonde celebrities but must prove focus on NFL big stage (not something that helps his NFL stock and therefore needs more maturity, it's growing), Exceptional creativity and big play ability, "IT" factor, still lot's of potential as current body of work show's incredible stats in such a short period of time.

4. Ben Roethsliberger: Cannon for an arm, accurate, born leader, Youthful yet very decorated for a short body of work, Starter and game manager from day one, Super tough, Composure, Consistent, Accurate, Exceptional under pressure, Is an already top tier player at QB and will only get better, WIll be a very good player for a very long time. Won a championship in his 2nd season starting, Very productive error free QB

5. Carson Palmer: Cannon for an arm, Accurate, good game manager, minimal errors, will tear a D apart with adequate time in the pocket, can outright control a game from the pocket with a minimal running game. Mature, composed, with the right team definitely top 3 talent, Great production.

** Honorable Mention: Drew Brees (weak arm), Donovan McNabb (Durability issues, but also uncanny combination of arm strength/accuracy/mobility) Brett Favre (3 time MVP, Most productive yet errored QB in history of NFL, Sure fire Hall of Famer, unmatched durability and heart, a champion/playing legend, currently productive but getting up there in age, is not as dynamic asonce was, stillputs fear in a defense with his unmatched cannon arm.)

To Collinsworth's credit, he has been praising the Cowboys for two years. He's not a bandwagon jumper.
QFT. He's one of the few guys who has been giving us some credit.

Our team is built for the long haul yes, but we are going to need another T.O in the waiting. I know our other young WR's look good, but they are no T.O and without that type of presence at WR in any offense you watch the difference. T.O and/or a WR at his level for the next 6 years is key. We have him for another 3 years but how much longer can he defy the odds? The guy will be 38 by that time. Is it realistic to expect him to continue to play at this level for 3 more years? He is a physical specimen and I guessif any player can defy the odds other than Jerry Rice I guess it could be the guy who uses his same workout regimen, T.O. Remeber though, JR was not as dynamic his last 4 years, but he was productive. If T.O can he might be able to threaten some of Rice's records to boot, maybe that'll be his added motiviation. Attmpt going down as the best or second to it.

To answer your question, I've never been so ready. It's been a rough 12 years last year aside.

I thought Collinsworth was going to talk about how he timed Romo's release and it was number 1 or something?

Tony has looked much improved in the preseason and week one in my opinion. Not sure what it is but he just seems to be more in command of what is going on. Having a year under his belt in Garrett's system is part of it.

As to the Young comparisons Ive been saying for a few years now that there is something about the way he plays that reminds me of Young, cant exactly put my fingers on what exactly it is but it is there to me. And for the record, Ive never been a big fan of Young.

Yeah being a Brett Favre/Steve Young hybrid aligns exactly with what I think of Tomo Romo. Favre for the gun slinger/improvisation aspect, and Young for the more scrambling (though Young was a better pure runner) and rhythm throwing aspects. I'm not sure how else to best describe it, but Romo does seem similar to Young in the rhythm with which he drops back and throws the ball. It might have to do with the speed at which they go through their progressions which makes them seem like they are playing at a faster speed than most other quarterbacks. He also reminds me of Young on a lot of the leading soft touch passes (even the arc of the ball) down the field which Young was superb at (like that pretty one to Crayton down the middle of the field in the 2nd half).

It looks like to me that Romo is throwing a better ball this year than last, much tighter spiral.
