I know a lot of guys are losing hope that we sign Colombo but the longer it takes the better it is for us. I think Dallas told Colombo to test the market and find his worth.

I think Colombo is asking for something unreasonable thus nobody has brought him in for an interview.

So the longer this drags on the better it is for Dallas financially. Give it a few more days to a couple weeks and eventually his agent is going to advise him to rethink the numbers. Jerry will be fair with him when that happens.

I still believe he will be a Cowboy.

Yup there is no indication either way ..... but the usual suspects see this is that he is gone for sure ......

I like Columbo and hope he resigns ..... but I am also interested in what Pat McQ can do.

I really hope he's back. With him and Davis on the right side of our line... it will solidify us at those positions for several years to come.

The guy is exactly the kind of offensive lineman we need. He gets mean and nasty with who he is blocking... and he keeps going until the whistle blows. There were so many time throughout the season that he was still going during the play while others were starting to stand around...

numnuts said it in another thread. Maybe having a guy that doesn't mind getting mean out there playing next to Davis is exactly the thing to motivate Davis. Imagine Colombo and Davis just grinning at each other walking up to the line of scrimmage when we call a short yardage running play to their side and we need them to blow the DLine off the line of scrimmage.

Does anyone know how McQ's twin brother did last year--wasn't he a third round pick by the bears

I agree. Evidently teams are not throwing big offers around to grab him at this stage or he would already have signed a deal. I think he will be back with the Cowboys as well.

He'll have his opportunity in the preseason. I'd rather have a guy we know can be a very capable starter rather than a guy that BP thought could be a solid player. If Pat McQ turns out to be a quality starter for us... BP would then be 1 for 10 (or so) in drafting OLinemen.

I would like to bring him back, but if it is for anything more than 3-4 mil a year I would not be for it. Sparano got credit for much of the offense, so he should also get credit for making something out of Columbo. Now having said that, why should I not think that he could do the same thing with McQuistan or Black? I know Black was pretty bad last year, but Columbo was not exactly tearing it up in Chi-town before his injuries got the better of him either. Columbo is an average OT, nothing more.

He was taken by the Raiders.

I'm pretty sure he was on the field for them, but that whole offensive unit was putrid so it's hard to say he did well or not since they did nothing at all.

Jeff Ireland just said the Cowboys want Colombo back and the Davis signing has no bearing on that. Good News to me!.

Having even an average player would so be an upgrade, you just gotta welcome it.

Pat McQuistan's twin brother (don't recall his name) was a 3rd pick of the Raiders and started for them at one of the OG positions. Haven't a clue how he played but before the season started Parcells said our McQuistan was about a year behind his brother. As you probably recall, our Pat McQuistan played 1-2 years less of college football then his brother did. I really think Parcells said Pat McQuistan as a developmental and probably would have put him on our PS but several teams/coaches called who heard/saw his performance in a preseason game which made Parcells realized our Pat McQuistan would be grabbed off the waiver wire if he attempted put him on our PS. McQuistan was inactive the entire 16 games but Parcells before the season started said he'd have no hesitation in playing him at LT if Adams unable to go. McQuistan has been described by many as having the full physical attributes needed to playstart(?) in the NFL but lacked experience at that position. He's also supposedly got a very nasty disposition of the field.

Dallas took a chance and the Colombo gamble worked
out for them.I really liked his performance and hope he
comes back.I wonder if it's more about can his body take
the beating to give him the big contract. Teams are probably
looking at the risk factor.

An upgrade over what? Columbo is an upgrade over himself?

Pay him what? Dallas is still in the mix and talking with him. However just because someone demands a certain contract does not mean Dallas or anyone else is willing to pay that. Maybe Colombo needs to come down on his asking price because no one appears to be beating down his door.
