No...and please don't try to dictate how this board is run. This messageboard was here before you decided to join and will still prosper when you've had your fun. If you like Prophet's thread so much, then limit your posts to that thread.

The rest of you need to do your best and stick to football and stop getting sucked into the nonsense.

I believe some of the players still have loyalty ..... and I know our owner is loyal to a fault to the guys who have meant alot to this team .....

Just wish it was like the old days ..... but oh well.

It would be nice to be able to build a team for the longer term as they did before FA and the Cap.

If all owners were worth about the same amount of money then it would work. But you have some VERY rich guys and some moderately rich guys and some just rich guys. Not to mention bigger stadiums, sky boxes, etc. So there is no way you could not have poor relations in the NFL without a cap. You have a few anyway- but a lot less then if there was no cap at all. The guy in Seattle can probably buy every other owner in the NFL or close to it. Actually, compared to him JJ is poor. Colombo has one shot probably at making enough money to never really worry about it again. If it was you you would do all you could to get as much as you could.

I agree and that is why the owners insisted on a cap after the players won their fight for FA. I still liked it better when there was no FA and no cap. I loved seeing the guys on the Doomsday D pretty much playing their entire careers together and I loved that a team was built for the long haul and you could have rookies sit and learn before taking over.

If there was no FA then you would not need a cap. But then you would have owners like Bidwell and Benson who would pay peanuts and you would have some very nasty happenings.

That would be their choice it was not like the Cards were beating up on the league under the old system and with FA and the cap they still are not doing anything. Under the old system bad teams still had a very good chance at building something special that could last for years and it was not the team who had the most cash who became winners. Cowboys, Steeler and 49ers were teams that I watched go from the bottom to building great teams.

IMO there's no FA out there who's an upgrade over Colombo. And I'm not sold on Davis being an upgrade if that's where he plays.

Which others are you comparing him to?

He seemed to hold his own last year, but I don't think he would yet be considered a top tier tackle... Is it possible we are looking for an upgrade there? Plug in Bigg at RG and get a tackle and we are set. Not sure who is available, and Colombo may be one of the best options out there... I just don't recall him being spectacular by any means.

I agree with you. Because he was average there last year, and we've had terrible performance at that position for so long, a lot of people think we should overpay him. He was adequate but far from dominant or great. A lot of people want to keep bringing up his game against Kearse but totally ignore his performance against Strahan where he completely stunk. It doesn't seem like you can have it both ways. I admire what he's been able to come back from but you can't write long term contracts wearing homer goggles.

what if he wasn't?

what are the better options? a draft choice? fabini?

davis needs to be playing guard, IMHO.

JJ needs to resign colombo sooner rather than later.

Pettitgout, Jordan Black, Pork Chop, etc. There don't seem to be many good options at Tackle.
