By all reports, Young is looking good and the few times that I noticed him he appeared to be holding his own.

I am not so sure Colombo is playing worse this year. What i think many fail to notice is that Colombo has had no chipping help this year. Almost every play Doug Free has the running back or tight end chipping to his side. Would be interesting if someone could chart how much help he is getting this year compared to last year.

Also, Two of those sacks Colombos guy looped around for the sack. They were coverage sacks. I am not worried about the O-Line, i am worried about the wide receivers not getting open or Romo holding onto the ball too long.

No i don’t think he sucks. The first sack, Witten and Crayton looks like they ran the same route, Romo hung onto the ball too long. Second sack, Colombos man ran all the way around for the sack. Romo held onto the ball for an eternity. At least be honest about those sacks and blaming Colombo. All tackles need some help from time to time, he simply gets none with Free now manning the other side.

i don't know, preseason. a team coming off a short rest. looking to simply not get hurt. hard to judge any of the starters under these conditions. reality is that many of your starters who know they have jobs are simply not going all out under those conditions... it's a business decision

Romo held onto the ball for an eternity. At least be honest about those sacks and blaming Colombo. All tackles need some help from time to time, he simply gets none with Free now manning the other side.

This is why I want to see the game.

If Romo had 3.5 seconds to get rid of the ball than it's not just Colombo to blame.

I also think we should start preparing for the worst. We need someone like one of you former O-linemen to pay close attention to Young to see if he looks like he could fill in. It seems like he's not getting beat out there... You just don't notice him a lot.

Also, does anyone else think we should just leave Brewster at RT? When he gets whipped, it's at LT. I just don't think he has the quickness to play LT. I know you don't want to overload rookies, but I'd rather see Brewster stay at RT and let Young play LT in these games.

Hopefully, when Barron comes back we never have to see Brewster lined up at LT again. I like the idea of Young staying at RT because he's probably the logical candidate to replace Colombo eventually ... maybe sooner rather than later.

I think we are in pretty good shape for replacing Columbo if he can't play well. Barron is a decent option. Folks here haven't been impressed with him but I do think he can be a solid RT. Bigg Davis is the next option. If Barron doesn't cut it. Brewster/Young are both guys that need at least half a season of practice work (best case scenario) before they hit the field.

this staff seems to prefer to take young guys and put them in over their heads to see what their max potential might be. lots of teams take a tackle and start him at G... we have a different philosophy i guess

I'm not for benching Colombo but I do think Sam Young is the most NFL ready lineman we have drafted since Gurode.

I'd still rather him hit the weights for a couple of years though.

Yep, he got beat by a vanilla pass rush. Nothing exotic about a guy running right around you. A little bit later Dallas had the running back chip the pass rusher to that side.

I don't know...that pash rush looked a little like French Silk or Butter Pecan to me.

Maybe they are our future but that's not this year. Our hopes to go deep into the playoffs & hopefully even the SB will depend mostly on the ability of our OL. Thank God we have Free instead of Adams, but rest of the OL, except maybe for Kosier, is a problem. Jerry better pick up another experienced OL who can start at RT and an interior OL who can start there. Obviously we will be in deep trouble.

The rest of the line? As in Pro Bowlers Gurode and Davis? If everyone other than Kosier is a problem, this will be a short year.

Unfortunately, there's no backup plan. I have no faith in Barron and Brewster, and though Young's looked good, it's been against second and third teamers

The only issue with moving Brewster is his utter inability to anchor. It's not surprising that his upper body strength is suspect due to the torn pec, but he doesn't appear to have any lower body strength either. He needs a lot of work.

Young has looked far better than I believed he would play. His hand placement has been very good. I would worry about him lining up against someone with speed or good lateral quickness.

I am officially worried about Colombo. His play last night is shades of what I saw at training camp. Colombo is looking a little slow and we don't have a viable option to replace him.

In order to realize our hopes and dreams Colombo got to step it up.

It is a little of a concern. He wasnt as bad as he was vs Minnesota, but he clearly didnt play well.
