____college success led to projections that he would be a mid-to-late first round draft pick in the NFL Draft, but he slipped due to concerns about his relatively short stature for a professional quarterback (6'0"), a perceived lack of arm strength, and a sense that he had succeeded in college in a system designed for him

guess whos wiki page this is from?

Drew Brees?

pass accuracy is more important than any of those stats you listed for a QB trying to make it in the NFL. ill also bet on the winning-est QB ever as well

Do I really need to go get the extensive list of massive college stat QB guys who flamed out in the NFL?

It's a L O N G list, college stats mean absolutely zilch when it comes to projecting how good (or bad) a QB may become in the NFL.

But is he as good as the highest rated passer in NCAA history Josh Johnson? Or most NCAA passing yards in a season BJ Symon? Most NCAA passing yards in a game David Klinger? Or most NCAA career yards Timmy Chang?

I see what you did there.

at least the lovers put there **** out there for people to **** on while the haters just sit back never naming the college team or players they root for and just **** on players because they are from X school and players from X position from said school always suck.
Have to agree with that one. Easy to be a hater when you never have to defend anything.

Well, unlike other QB's mentioned in this thread like Drew Brees (Austin), Vince Young (Houston) and Stephen McGee (Round Rock), McCoy is not a "native" Texan. So, even though he grew up here and we enjoyed his career at UT, there is always that asterisk of him being born in Hobbs, New Mexico. Native Texans are partial to that kind of thing...always have been and always will be. Naturally, I wish McCoy all the best in his NFL career along with his wife, who btw was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Arizona.

Oh I agree it has nothing to do with McCoy's career, my point was college stats are absolutely not an indicator of NFL success, which you disputed.

I just went back to the early 90's, and this is off the top of my head:

Andre Ware, David Klingler, Danny Wuerfel, Tim Couch, Cade McNown, Chris Weinke, Josh Heupel, Joey Harrington, Rex Grossman, Kliff Klingsbury, Ken Dorsey, David Greene, Brian Brohm and that kid from Oklahoma's who's name escapes me at the moment.

I'm sure there's are dozens of others I've left off.

and that doesnt mean crap in the NFL...he ran a glorified run and shoot at Texas against inferior opponents...the speed of the game is too much for him...he cant throw the ball outside the hash marks at all...and he looked like the scrawniest guy who's ever played QB in the NFL when I watched them play GB

maybe I'll be wrong 3 or 4 yrs from now, but right now I'd bet the farm aaginst him ever being anything more than a clipboard carrier
and if he was a Cowboy dbair would be the first screaming about you have to give a draft pick 3 years and it's ******** to have an opinion after one preseason game.

I'm not a McCoy fan, but I won't hate him because of his school. I doubt he gets cut simply because it is wasting a draft pick without giving him a chance. I agree that he doesn't look like NFL material, but that hasn't stopped others from playing.

If he does get dropped I do not want him. McGee doesn't look great either but he is better than McCoy.

dude is the most accurate passer in college history, 77.6%, he has the skills if he is used right.

I believe he does. But I think he needs a few years to develop. He's got great talent.

While we're at it, it should also be noted that you were a Drew Henson homer. So we shan't worry about you being The Source.

I am a Sam Houston State graduate we had roughly 3 guys drafted in the last 10 years

A TE a

QB transfer from SMU Josh McCown (been a career backup)

QB transfer from OU Rhett Bomar

There you go bang away at all our draft picks from Sam Houston State not much for you to get butt hurt about is it:lmao:

Yeah and Graham Harrell owns almost half the NCAA record books. Where did that get him?? I said this all last year...Harrell was a way better QB in college then Colt, unfortunatly Tech didn't have the rest of the talent like UT does.

It's pretty easy to get 77.6% rate when you throw 3 yard passes.

i most certainly did not, i said that completion percentage is an indicator of talent, and skill set needed to be successful as an NFL QB

i think you may be talking about white
