Colts Finalizing Deal With QB Philip Rivers

No surprise. Been rumored for weeks. Not sure how much Rivers has left though. He looked done last yer.

Yes he did. This decision makes no sense to me either.

Agree. He wasn't bad because of his team last year...he was bad because his already horrible throwing motion looked like he was "P for K'ing" down the field (did I date myself on the pass for kick backyard rule)

This is a good move for the Colts IMO. That OL can protect and Rivers can still throw the ball. You give him time, he can do damage. This is a really great sign for them IMO, just from the perspective of fit.

LOL dude has NOTHING left. Can't believe they would choose Rivers over Brady. Rivers has a noodle arm.

Irsay is worse than Jerry.
I saw nothing wrong with his arm last year. It was the bad decisions that stood out to me. Maybe he was trying too hard knowing it was his last year with the Chargers. Hard to say when father time will catch up with anyone.

Seems like a downgrade from Brissett to me based on where Rivers is at this point in his career.

Glad you explained it, I was scratching my head there for a second!

But given the quarterbacks available, Rivers makes little to no sense to me. He looked done.

Regardless, how much 'future' would there be in them signing Brady instead anyway?

Colts are still going to need to draft a QB.

His arm has been bad for a while now. He struggles to throw out routes the most, there is very little zip on his throws.

I think this is why they are doing it, draft a QB, learn under Rivers. Though as other said, he looks done. But not sure if Brissett is the guy for another year either.

If Indy were to add another weapon on offense, it will be very intriguing to watch this unfold. This is supply & demand. Colts didn't feel Brissett could get them where they need to go so they are making a push while they have a young, ascending team. If more options were available, they might choose another path.

Damn Brady must really be looking for a pay day then going to a team he can win on...

poetic too taking over Manning’s old team and one he battled often during a good portion of his career...

A Teddy Bridgewater would make a little more sense here. He has more upside than Brisset, who is a decent player and a great backup. I think the FA for QBs is pretty good this year actually, too good to have Rivers as the first option.

Think it has more to do with Irsay and his dislike for the Patriots.
