Colts were missing 7 players from last years roster and still won handily at home.

Remember the late season surge in the playoffs as they became healthy?

I am not saying we are as good as the Colts, but good teams overcome adversity and win at home.

Even if we are missing Newman, Burnett, Glenn and Ellis our talent level should overcome the Giants.

We shall see?

Give credit to the Colts' FO-with all the Manning publicity, they get very little credit for everything they do.

They invest heavily in the draft and groom them, which is why when they have FA departures/injuries, these new guys are able to be very effective.

First you have to get to a point where you don't have alot of holes to fill, which took them many years.

It also helps to have Peyton Manning.

As I stated, Dallas is not as talented as the Colts, but Indy is not the only GOOD team in the NFL.

No one was going to go into that building and win last night. Too much energy.

It was like atlanta going into new orleans last year, they didnt have a chance!

It was a great reminder that Peyton is still the best QB in the league, and the Saints defense still stinks.

Reggie Wayne is awesome. I love his game. Did anyone notice on the second long bomb when he studdered to sell the stop route he dropped his head. It was a subtle veteran move.

Exactly! All these mediots picking the Saints to win the NFC are missing the point that the Saints defense sucks. Manning schooled them last night. When New Orleans tried to double the WRs they just kept handing off to Addai over and over again. They would bring up a safety to stop the run and Manning beat them deep.

People may think Peyton is over-exposed and hyped by all the commercials but don't let that fool you into believing that he isn't the best in the game and one of the best ever to play. When all is said and done he will rank among the top-5 all-time and likely will be #1 statistically.

I like Tom Brady but he is a notch below Manning.

manning is outstanding.

Having said that I wouldnt be too quick to judge the saints by that game.

That might be their toughest test of the season. So I hope people dont start the saints suck stuff. They are an outstanding team.

Check their defensive numbers from last year, they dont suck.

again, no one was going into that building last night and winning.

I would vote this post for POST OF THE YEAR.

Good teams find a way. We just might be as good as the Colts.

Even though we beat them last year and broke their win streak I don't believe we are as good a team as they are right now. By the end of the season that might change but right now they are the best in the league and we aren't.

I do agree though that good teams find a way to win games even when they are missing key players. We must learn to do that if we are to move up to the next level. That usually happens because good teams draft well and have good young players waiting to step in and play. We will have to see if our young guys are any good. They haven't been in the past but I think our drafts have improved since then.

As my dad used to say when he would beat us at a game. "Turn out the lights, the party is over!". To me, I think it's an omen for New Orleans. Cinderella is dead, and their fairytale is over. While I don't think they are going to be a cellar dweller as some like to say. Their run for a SuperBowl is over. They were playing way above their head for the talent they have. Their defense stinks and will be exposed even more this year. Their offense while good, won't be as good as last year.

:beer2:

As for the Colts. Their offense is good, but can be slowed down. As for their defense. It lives and dies based on Bob Sanders who should have been the Colts MVP last year. He value far exceeded Payton Manning's in my opinion. Their offense would roll with any decent QB. (not as well as it does with Manning of course) As I noted. As Bob Sanders goes, so does the defense.

No, the Saints suck! ;) I lived in New Orleans (for about two years) and have always kept an eye on them until everyone and their grandparents wanted to make them a fairytale team last year. (especially how they tried to promote themselves to America's Team) NOT!

From what I saw, defensively they played above their head last year and won't be quite as good this year. Their offense is still good, but I don't think it will be quite as prolific as last year.

If you are looking strictly at the totals from last year then it would appear that their defense wasn't too bad (11th overall) but if you take into account who they played and how they played then it becomes more clear that their defense isn't very good.

In terms of total yards they look good but they were one of the worst teams against the run: 23rd in yards and 31st in average per carry. Teams didn't have to pass much so the total yards weren't as high.

This is why ranking teams based on total yardage is a joke as it doesn't give an accurate picture of what really happened.

I dont think that the Saints loss has decided anything for them in the upcoming 15 games plus playoffs. Payton will adjust and they will have a good year I think.

You know whats funny... I dont see any Saints fans in here trolling around :lmao:

They are ALL waiting to see what happens with our Sunday game.
If we win... you wont see them for a while.

If we lose.. then maybe, just maybe they may show up to do some minor league trolling.... you know "we both lost.. but remember when we beat you last year" :lmao:

It was also a fantastic reminder of how nothing is more important (or even close) than good execution. The Colts don't do anything exotic, they just line up and beat you. They run the same boring plays over and over again...stretch play, lead draw, play action....rinse, repeat...But they have continuity and a group of players who do what they're asked and do it well.

On the other side, we saw exotic playcalls, players dancing around when they should have just gone forward, and burned blitzes lead to a complete arse-whooping for the Saints.

There was a team in the early to mid 90's that did the very same thing.

I miss those guys.

Thats exactly what the Cowboys of the 90s did. You knew what was coming, and they dared you to stop it.

This is what I was talking about before when I said the Saints offense is good, but won't be as good this year. They run a lot of trick/misdirection plays. They surprised a lot of teams last year. This year, teams know what to expect. They still have talent on offense so they will score. They just won't be as prolific as last year. Their defense is still second rate.

The Colts defense played well in the victory last night vs what should be a top 5 offense.

This is also a reminder of how one player can effect the outcome of the game. David accounted for 21 of the Colts 41 points. I am sure he will be the focal point of the offensive coordinators the Saints D will face this season. I kinda felt bad for the kid getting embarrased on national TV in a game that almost all football fans probably watched.
