Sam Shields has always had so much potential.

It's good to see him finally tapping into it.

GB reminds me of the Spurrier Commanders team of a few years ago. Gameplan the O in preseason, ran up the scores, then fell on its face during the regular season.

We'll see if this is real or illusionary.

You're not saying much. Romo has won only ONE playoff game, so he is not that much better. Meanwhile, Eli Manning has won a Super Bowl title; I suppose that makes him better than both of them.

Some of you guys make some of the DUMBEST comments on this board. You act high and mighty because Dallas FINALLY won a playoff game after nearly 15 years of underachievement, and suddenly this moves Romo into the upper echelon of QBs. Dallas has a lot more to prove and so does Romo, so while you're dumping on Rodgers, Romo is practically in the same boat. He's not that much better.

I'm definitely not saying romo is elite either, rodgers is romo 2-3 years ago, lighting up the league and getting all the buzz w/o the accomplishments. The only elite qbs in this league are Brees, Manning, Brady, and Roethlisberger. Say what you want about big ben off the field but that drive against arizona in the superbowl was amazing, the dude has been clutch. Rodgers, Rivers, and Romo are all knocking on the door, just need the jewelry because they already have the stats.

Oh, it's definitely real. They proved as much last season.

I know lot on this board liked Morgan Burnett, seems like he is a player. At least so far. That was should have been his 2nd Int of Manning.
we will rue that we didn't draft Burnett over the pale linebacker with a bum knee.

GB obviously has a different philosophy than us and they game plan arguably meaningless games. I still recall them routing Arizona in the last game of last season, because the Cards played vanilla, only to lose the playoff game.

Shields didn't live up to his potential at Miami... Hurricane fans like myself were pissed.

Where is this evidence that the Packers game plan to a greater degree than the Cowboys during the preseason?

Did you see all the blitzing that's been going on? Did you see how complex that blitz was were they had the pick on Manning? The corner blitzed, the safety ran to cover the vacated area but didn't just carry the man like most corner blitzes are, but actually switched off the man to the other player coming to the spot, totally confusing Manning. How many of those blitzes have we run all preseason?

Do you not see all the roll out pockets game planned to throw deep, not just some quick roll out pass. I'm sorry but I watch the intricacies of the game and it's pretty obvious.

The proof was in the pudding when they demolished Arizona last year like they were far greater only to lose the next week.

Just watch the two of them play.Romo is a very good QB. Rodgers is a special player. it's not about that they have won right now. it's about upside.every team in the NFL would take Rodgers over Romo in my opinion. i even think the Cowboys would. Rodgers is that good.

Dude, what makes your argument laughable is that you are contradicting your own self. In your previous post, you named the top 5 QBs in the NFL as Brady, Manning, Brees, Rogers and Phillup Rivers. You said Romo as an "average franchise QB".

Rivers career completion %.......63.1
Romo's...................................63.4

Rivers career passer rating........95.8
Romo's...................................95.6

Rivers total career TD passes.....106
Romo's....................................107

Their completion percentage is almost identical, their passer ratings are almost identical, and their TD passes are almost identical. These are the 3 most important stats for QBs.

Yet you claim Rivers is "top 5" and Romo is not. Would you like to explain to the board how you came to this conclusion since the statistics do not support your claim. What exactly are you basing this conclusion on other than just your own personal opinion, because the stats say Romo and Rivers are almost identical Qbs. So how can the stats be identical and you say one is top 5 and the other isnt????

Wow ESPN saying its time to put Rodgers at the "Big boy table" with Brady, Brees, and Manning.

I thought ESPN's rules were that you had to win a playoff game first?

I should've specified I wasn't talking about the defense. However, rolling out and throwing deep isn't indicative of comprehensive offensive game planning, in my opinion. Last week, San Diego eviscerated Dallas with short passes to running back, but still utilized a fairly "vanilla" game plan. An offense can counter a defense without complex scheming.

The proof was in the pudding when they demolished Arizona last year like they were far greater only to lose the next week.
You mean the final game of the regular season last year?

It is some game planning because you're looking to throw the ball deep to get some big plays like you will in a regular season game, not a preseason one. You don't see us game planning to throw deep a lot. And that's been the case in preseason games the last 2 years as well.

You mean the final game of the regular season last year?

Yes, that's the game I'm talking about. They clearly game planned while Arizona apparently held back. The way Greenbay won that game, it looked like AZ didn't belong on the same field with them and some media outlets bought into it. And it wasn't the case.

Wow, I have never seen so many guys with hard ons for a QB that has never even won a division title.

Seriously, Romo was considered a choker until he won a playoff game. In fact, in Romo's first playoff game he fumbled a FG snap and he was made fun of to no end. Rogers not only misses a wide open receiver for a playoff winning TD pass, but on the next play fumbles the ball to the Cards who return it for a TD.

Where is the same criticism of Rogers??? Where are the guys calling him a choker and a JAG??? Where are the guys saying, "but he hasnt won a playoff game yet"???

Lets just have an even playing field guys, Romo didnt get any respect until he won a playoff game but we got ESPN and suppossedly Cowboy fans in this thread having wet dreams over Rogers because he is lighting it up in preseason.

Rodgers didn't fumble a hold for a potential game winning fg

Rodgers can make throws that Romo can't.
