Was the guy Harrison shot an iggles fan? My opinion depends on the answer.

Not good. According to internet and radio reports, he lied about the gun and its whereabouts and he hid the gun in a bucket at his car wash. That doesn't sound like the actions of an innocent man.

Reports are that the police found a weapon matching the caliber and description of the weapon involved in the shooting stashed in a bucket at Harrison's car wash.

I just got to laugh at some of the theories coming out of the Colts forums. Stuff like:

Link: http://forum.colts.com/showthread.php?t=30763
Summary: Obviously Harrison kept the gun behind his bar for protection. He asked the guy causing trouble to leave and while he wasn't looking, an employee grabbed his gun and ran out and shot at this guy. Then, because this employee worked at his carwash too (times are tough he needs two jobs) he ran there and dropped the gun in the bucket.

So hillarious!

CONDON DENIES HARRISON’S INVOLVEMENT IN SHOOTING
Posted by Mike Florio on May 2, 2008, 10:04 p.m.

Amid reports that, at a minimum, raise serious questions about whether Colts receiver Marvin Harrison fired shots at a man outside of a bar Harrison owns in Philadelphia, Harrison’s agent, Tom Condon, denies that Harrison did anything wrong.

“Marvin Harrison was not involved in any shooting. The report is erroneous,”
Condon told Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com.

Meanwhile, police said that Harrison is not a suspect. “He was interviewed,” Lt. Frank Vanore told the Associated Press. ”Why he was interviewed, that is all part of the investigation. No one is a suspect.”

Still, the report that originated on WIP points a finger clearly in Harrison’s direction. Per the report, the shooting followed an argument between Harrison and the victim at the bar, and the victim was shot while he was walking away from the establishment, with Harrison behind him.

The bullets reportedly came from a Belgian-made gun. Harrison told police he owns such a gun, but claimed that the gun never left his house. The gun was later found in a bucket at a car wash Harrison owns.

The gun was determined to be the same gun that fired the shots.

So flat denials don’t do it for us, not with those kinds of details. We need specifics from Harrison or Condon before we’ll be able to believe that Harrison had no involvement whatsoever.

We’re not saying Harrison was the shooter. But in light of the report from WIP, how can we rule him out based solely on the representations of a man who is paid to protect Harrison’s interests?

Hmm. Seems to me Florio is jumping to a big conclusion way too early. Let the police conduct the investigation and see what turns up. BTW: Surprised to find out that Marvin Harrison owns a bar in Philly. With all the money he's earned, why in the world put himself in an environment where drunks/dead beats could case him a problem.

Watch this get swept under the rug.

MORE DETAILS ON HARRISON INCIDENT

Posted by Mike Florio on May 3, 2008, 10:25 a.m.

The Philadelphia Daily News has a lengthy (and excellent) story about the shooting outside the aptly-named “Playmakers” bar in North Philadelphia, which is owned by Colts receiver (and Philly native) Marvin Harrison.

Here are some things we didn’t previously know (or previously hadn’t noticed):

The victim of the shooting had been in a fistfight with Harrison moments before the shooting. The victim had been kicked out of the bar two weeks earlier, and had bickered with Harrison ever since.

The victim initially concealed the fact that he’d been shot. He later admittied it, but declined to identify the shooter.

As to those reports of the Belgian gun being found in a bucket, the Daily News writes that Harrison handed the gun over.

Harrison spent four hours being interviewed at the police station, with his attorney present. Harrison acknowledged being involved in a fight with the victim, but denied any involvement in the shooting.

Detectives are searching for another man who called and claimed that he’d been shot by Harrison.

Five of the six shell casings found at the scene came from Harrison’s gun.
Though police have taken great pains to explain that there currently is no suspect, the Daily News makes clear that Harrison is a target of the investigation.

And why wouldn’t he be? It was his gun that had been fired, and the gun was in his possession the next day. Unless Harrison is in a position to implicate someone else (or if there’s someone else who’ll take the fall), it’s all pointing to him at this point.
