I look forward to when both Free and Colombo are both in
the game at the same time. That could be next year. The
Cowboys finally found a future starter and that will be his reward.

I will say this. WITH Colombo, short yardage wasn't an issue. IT WAS with Free. I'm damn happy about that.

I'll say it again - the problem hasn't been Free on the right side. It is the DTs submarining Davis and creating a huge pile on the ground. The problem is Davis just can't get low enough.

Colombo was okay out there but not nearly as good as Free was the week before. I do think Free gets his chance next year at LT but this staff just doesn't seem to like change (plus Flo's deal was meant to be a 3-year deal) so he may not get a real shot at winning the LT slot until 2011. I would strongly urge the FO not to trade up for a LT in the draft. Draft for depth if you like an OL that falls but don't trade up into the top 10 to grab a LT prospect.

I don't think that Free got screwed. I mean there is a reason by Columbo was the starter before he got hurt. He's the better player.

No, Colombo was the better player at the start of the year. After Free got around his fifth start, he was better than Colombo.

The same thing happened with Spencer. He needed a few starts out there before he finally started to figure things out and now he is lights out there.

Young players will never develop if you don't let them play. There is only so much you can judge from preseason and practice. Players have to get out there at full speed with proper game plans playing with the other starters before the light starts to turn on.

Don't you know playing a rusty Colombo was doomed to fail.

Just another panic moment for the boys from CowboysZone. (You know who you are. :) )

Yes they do. Gawd the frightened pups went droning on and on in fear.

You can keep spouting this, but it doesn't make it true.

Eskimo I like you. But you are so completely WRONG.

Columbo had ranked as the #1 lineman before he went down. Sure Free played well. Maybe played himself into a starting role next year. But he ain't Mr. Nasty.

The one thing that he is better than Columbo on is getting down the field blocking....hence last week leading FJ on that long TD run. Couldn't believe that it was a lineman beating FJ down there....reminded me of a young Larry Allen from back in the day...some of you know what I'm talking about.

I was hoping Free would get some time once we had the go-ahead lead. We've neglected the future of our aging line for far too long. I have no confidence in any other backup lineman we have, which is a scary feeling. Columbo should get the start now, though. He is the source of our line's mean streak.

I still say draft 2-3 O-linemen in this draft anytime a BPA type falls to us. Almost every starting caliber lineman we have is over 30.

Columbo's punch (an essential weapon for a lineman) might be the best in the NFL and no I am not exaggerating.

Players don't like to lose their starting job due to injury. I think that was a dominating factor here. Columbo played pretty well overall and was an intimidating presence on the field.
