Eskimo I like you. But you are so completely WRONG.

Columbo had ranked as the #1 lineman before he went down. Sure Free played well. Maybe played himself into a starting role next year. But he ain't Mr. Nasty.

Free and Colombo are very different players.

I like the athleticism that Free brings to the line. He gives us the ability to finally have a really good screen game with Kosier because both are just deadly at crushing LBs and DBs in the open field.

I think Felix and Austin are the future of the team. Given how well both of them run screens, I want OL who can get out there and help them out. We also see that Felix is a back who is probably going to be better with an OL that can really move with his ability to read blocks in space.

You just start having to build your team around the players you have now and not the players you had 10 years ago (Emmitt).

Colombo is okay out there. I do think he takes too many penalties and isn't quite the athlete I want on our line but he is consistent and does his job and won't get Romo killed.

BTW, Kosier is still our best OL. His skills mesh well with Felix's too.

About the staff grades, I don't believe what they tell the public. They also tried to convince us that Proctor graded the best on a day when he was pretty bad.

The O-line did have a few lapses on some right side stunts/blitzes with Colombo in ... we'll never know if it would've been any better with Free.
He played a solid game ... and I begin to see the method to the madness. He's now got a full game under his belt before cinching up to take on a monster front seven in Minnesota.
I'll admit, I was apprehensive, but it was the right move.

He got off to a bad start and I was LIVID!! BUT as the match went on , he was violent and mean and relentless - Good Call Wade!!!

I was very pleased with Marc last night. I said before the game started he'd come out nasty and ready to prove himself again and I was happy with what he did.

This is all very interesting and I think you are right for the future, but I like a solid wall around Romo right now. I think either one is a good option.

Earlier this thread you blame our short yardage woes on Davis. I invite you to go and look to see whose man was blowing up the line over and over again on short yardage against the skins.

Sure Haynesworth is one of the best DL in the league but Kosier while a great technician just isn't strong enough at the point of attack.

Columbo didn't look all that rusty, but he didn't look 100% either. Love his attitude (who doesn't?) but I could do w/out the false starts.

Not sure who led the team this year in false starts, Columbo or Witten.

Again, you build your team around the players you have and not the players who played here 10 years ago. Kosier meshes well with what we are trying to do offensively.

Kosier versus Haynesworth is a mismatch 1-on-1 on a straight dive play. Davis is our monster guard but he also hasn't been getting the job done because he is repeately falling down with his backside 1 yard behind the LOS due to his inability to get low enough.

It is actual quite probable that the whole interior of the OL has been playing poorly in these situations. It is not as though the plays have been killed by penetration.

I actually think our best strategy is probably not to run the straight dive which is what everyone is expecting and overplays to a ridiculous extent. We need the defense to be spread out more and have more of the field to defend than a space that is 1 yard x 10 yards. The play we ran to Phillips was a good start.

BTW, why is it so funny that Kosier is a great guard? Our OL was pretty bad last year without him and I don't think all of that is entirely due to Proctor. The kid won a spot on the squad again this year and they released Duke Preston before him when they needed the roster space. That's the same fellow that has been a starter in the league at center. He just isn't a great man-to-man run blocking mauler. Luckily the guy who plays next to him at Center is so we can get away with this at LG.
