Combine re-check raises flags for Bowers, Smith

You really think some team can say "player X has this injury and it is this bad" and they have some kind of access to that information that no other team has?

I cant believe you actually think any team is that naive.

If any team is interested they are going to do their homework.

Sometimes people put too much thought into this stuff around draft time.

it happens all the time, people putting disinformation about this time of year.
And i agree, the boys will have their doctors doing a full check, we'll see if itys bogus or not as to where he gets selected.
Meniscus surgery is routine, i'va had it done twice. Bowers has a degenerative issue apparently.

Hello Carimi...

you mean the guy who had knee surgery last year and had a knee injury cause him to miss 3 games as a soph. Surely you wont take him now will you, i mean he's been under the knife........................

From what is reported it would seem Bowers is a definite question mark. Smith sounds fine. Based on the information provided though I wouldn't have a problem at all with Smith. You can't go on those reports though as its third hand information. I'm sure team doctors have asked all the right questions. Just reading the operation report would yield most of the information needed. The followup evaluations would be gravy.

Da'Quan Bowers' agent has come out with a thorough, lengthy, strong statement, denying the reports of the outcome of Bowers' medical recheck. I found it on National Football Post.

Perhaps, Smith's agent will do the same.

Evidently, team doctors are (at stations) at these medical rechecks.

Dallas really doesn't hide their intentions. I feel like we would already know if Smith's knee didn't pass medical clearance. Time will tell, and I'm sure we will hear something shortly.

I'm not a fan.

In fact, I hope he's a Giant. Ware will be his daddy for the next 7 years.

lol . i think the giants go pouncey . bigger need IMO but also because i think castanzo will be gone unless they trade up

lol, I knew the denial would come on strong. You'd think the kid didn't just have surgery 4 months ago. Relax people, it's okay to take some time to heal from KNEE surgery. Geez.

Bowers case seems much worse if he had microfracture, that's no joke.

if a team even THINKS he might need microfracture, he is off their board.

The Bowers issue we've known about all along, but the Smith one sounds more like hyperbole. So far we've seen or heard anything that says Smith has a problem.

No question the team docs already know all about Smith's surgery. I think it's a non-issue.

Now, I think everyone has been well aware of Bowers issue. I wouldn't touch him in the first round IMO. Thats a shame too. The kid is talented.

Why would it be hyperbole to suggest a 300 lb man is taking some time to recover from a torn meniscus?

He was able to work out and that's a good sign of recovery, but it's normal to take several months to truly get back to 100%.

I do think the unnamed NFL Exec is probably right, Smith probably grades more similarly to the other top tackles in this class than a lot of people think, based on their current abilities as prospects. The only thing that pushes Tyron up is his age and the hype after his physique, in addition to his upside.

As it currently stands, Smith isn't even the most polished prospect in this tackle class.

I just said if it was a real major concern, we would have heard more about it. Look at Bowers. His issue is definitely a real concern and it's well known and everyone knows he is sliding in the draft. That as far as anyone has seen so far isn't the case with Smith. THAT is why I said it's probably hyperbole. (the only thing the media is good at)

I know how Smith grades. His polish is what hurts him. Thats why I've said 1,000 times that if he came out next year he would be a top 5 pick. Even then, when it's all said and done he will easily be the best tackle to come out of the draft and it won't even be close.

I don't think the article was trying to paint both their situations in the same light, unfortunately when you say microfracture and drag Tyron Smith into the same article, it's going to set off more bells than it should.

Whether Smith ends up being the best tackle is yet to be proven, I'm not really worried about that till he's suited up. I like his upside and his age, but I have seen too many highly touted linemen bust to claim any one of these guys is a sure thing.

There is no doubt he has the highest upside, but offensive linemen are tricky.

I'm sick of waiting on the draft. :laugh2:

Not as tricky as QBs are. I see all those claiming how great Cam Newton will be in the pros and frankly there are a lot more worries there.

Well that settles it then. The man with a vested interest in Bowers draft slot has said there is no problem. All this silly hand-wringing. Trust the agent folks. He'll give you the straight scoop. ;)
