Come on over to the Dak Side

A lot of that is going to be hard to determine. Is it Dak, or is it an ultra dynamic run-oriented offense centered around our stellar RB's? Dak will certainly help with his mobility, but he is going to make rookie mistakes, too. He doesn't know the offense as well as anyone would like, so unless the powers that be make adjustments for Dak, we're going to see some ugly in there with the excitement. That's what comes from having to start Rookies. It is what it is and I'm still excited to watch this season. I think they've got a great shot to win the division.
A lot of that success if it happenned could be a subjective argument much like we've had over the years with Romo on who gets the credit or blame.

Bottom line with a QB which isn't usually fair is their success often correlates with the teams success.

So, if this team struggles this year Dak will be held to the same measurements as Romo.

For me personally I don't get much comfort knowing Romo has a good career without more success from the team.

In general we've never really celebrated personally greatness or achievements that weren't associated with championships.

Witten could be the Cowboys 1st Hall Of Famer without even playing in a championship which as great as he's been is really difficult to fathom as a Cowboy fan. It's bittersweet.

That's where I have to disagree with you. As you know I'm a huge Romo fan, but as long as the Cowboys win I don't care who is at the helm. Sure, I'd like to see Romo get to and win a championship but that is secondary to the Cowboys.
Same here. Get healthy Romo. If not for this year's Cowboys, for your long term family enjoyment with your kids. Let's go Dak.

We've often thought the post Romo era could be dark and gloomy much like the immediate post Aikman years and it still could be but we need to always be open that our next QB could have more success than Romo.
Or less, I can only imagine what that .500 record that so many wring their hands over without his play making.

No doubt the defense could stifle the offense with Romo or Dak but we must realize that there is a possibility Daks mobility and play making ability could spark us much like Romo did when he came onto the scene.
Except this time the spark will be shared between Dak and Zeke. :yourock:

It would have been worse . More like last year or the 5-11 funk but we might have had more opportunities to draft higher to rebuild and add a greater QB.

Possibly Romo keeping this team above water has slowed its overall rebuilding process masking weaknesses, etc.

Hitting rock bottom with the 5-11 funk brought us Parcells rebuilding or as I defined it resurrecting us from the ashes to the brink of playing for a championship.

Romo has allowed Jerry to keep playing his ridiculous control of this franchises football operations .

Well, the savvy, veteran posters who've been here since the inception of Cowboys Zone really don't want to hear that Dak is the real deal. Sometimes you can't see the forest for the trees. I remember back in the 90's when everyone said the Cowboys COULDN'T go to the super bowl because they started 0-2. It had never been done. They did it anyway. Now they are saying its impossible for a Rookie QB to win games and we can't win without Romo. I say BULL. What's sad is this is coming mostly from Cowboy fans. I think they are just hedging their bets. If he plays poorly, they can say "I told you so" and if he plays well, everyone forgets what was said....I swear, I wouldn't want to be on the same team as most of these so called realists.....

I am as gung ho on Dak as anyone. But if you are implying that saying we can win a SB with Dak is a reality, that would be laughable.

I think we would have an outside chance at making the playoffs, but that is as far as I would go.

No Rookie QB has ever started in a Super Bowl.

Only 4 have started in a championship game and several in playoffs .

I had a thread couple weeks ago on this naming these players in NFL history. It's an interesting and longer list than I imagined .

I would never say anything is impossible. But I like to deal in reality. I never thought we were a true contender with Romo in there.

If this team had a top 5 defense, then I would entertain the possibility a little more.

Contrary to my man Bleu Star's opinion, but my memory can be shaky. But wasn't Roethlisberger a rookie in the SB?

Not according to the site I gathered the information but I'll research deeper to confirm.

No sir, that was his second season he won SB.
