Who do you all think can be the comeback player of the year? I think last year's award probably goes to Doug Free.

A) Morris Claiborne
B) Brandon Carr
C) Bruce Carter
D) Henry Melton*
E) Gavin Escobar
F) Lance Dunbar
G) Matt Johnson

I hope it's Henry Melton because our team would benefit the most if he's playing at high level. With that said though, I think it will be Bruce Carter. He has the physical tools to be good, just last year his mind wasn't in it for some reason, I think he comes back to 2012 form.

You have to have been really good at your job for awhile (or ever) to be a come back candidate.
Melton
Carr, maybe

The others are Ineligible :D

The silver li I g? They could be breakout candidates.

True. I'm going with Carr.

That's if you're defining comeback as coming back from a poor season. I think you can comeback from that, you can comeback from not playing to expectations or your draft position or injuries.

Well Escobar, Dunbar, and Johnson really haven't been anywhere to comeback from. You could also argue the same for Claiborne. I believe Carr was affected by the deficiencies of the DL. So my main contenders would be Carter and Melton. I think I will lean towards Carter because he has all the potential in the world to be a great linebacker.

Define comeback, coming back from what. Poor season, injuries. To me it means from an injury.
Carter had a poor season, maybe this can qualify, same for Carr, but I feel he didn't have as bad of a season as some believe, but on here, the experts know better than the coaches.
Escobar, he has nothing to come back from, he was playing behind one of the best TE's ever.
Claiborne, both injuries and a poor season because of those injuries, Johnson, what has he done to comeback from. Maybe he can be Training Camp come back player, but I am pulling for him to be that player they say he can be.
So that leaves Dunbar, the change of pace RB, and will have competition in camp for a roster spot.
So that leaves Melton, the guy we are counting on to help settle the DL to be a force.

Is all of the above an acceptable answer? I mean, seriously, it's not completely impossible to see improvement from all of these guys, considering how high that ceiling is.

What's it going to be then, eh?

My definition as well. Not just a bad season or a bad player suddenly getting it.

But returning from injury (semi-serious one) or serious extended career downturn to play at a high level that has been established before.

Hey GB
Your thread, your rules!

What stands out to me is the upside you just showed with just some of the players we already had pre-draft

I think Carter is a smart choice. Big time physical talent and showed he can excel in 2012. Carter flying around with confidence would make a world of a difference.

Not really worried about Melton. If healthy, he will be fine.

Carter is the guy the defense needs to bounce back. The talent is there
