this is the first time i've heard of any negative backlash for Milly's upcoming Supergirl movie.

i for one,.. never came close to thinking Supergirl can compete with Superman 2026, for similar competitive Box Office numbers He's the biggest, most popular DC superhero.

and seeing what happened to Brie Larson backlash criticism of her Captain Marvel - which led into all time disaster The Marvels which flopped big time with barely visible theater audience., ..could the same happen to Milly Alcock's Supergirl as well .?

It's like these actors/actresses don't learn from the mistake of others. Just shut up and make movies and wait for the comments until AFTER the premier. It's not hard. lol They open their mouths and hurt themselves. I'm not saying she's wrong at all. She was absolutely right about some people feeling an entitlement about a character's looks. I'm just saying people should know when to be silent. Save it for after it breaks even or makes a profit.

"Land of the Lost" Cha-ka.

The chick from "Supergirl"
Oh! I think my insult of Ezekiel Elliott and Ewoks hits the nail more cleanly, but I get it.

Decided to do a Google search. Seems like it started with her being cast as Supergirl. Wonder why it may not have originated with her earlier playing Rhaenyra on House of the Dragon?

There were comments on her looks in the discussion of House of Dragon in this off topic zone. So it isn't new. I have to say she does not look good in the action scenes of supergirl. She looked better in HOD, it looks like they forgot the makeup. The movie is also suppose to be worse than the marvels according to a lot of reviews. Jason Malmoa who is in about 15 minutes is the highpoint and also a cameo from the new superman.

I was speaking of the Cha-Ka comparison specifically, so I missed that if true.

Oh boy I did not care for Supergirl. Looking back they should’ve took more time with this.
Felt dudher
I feel like I’ve seen this movie a few times. It’s James Gunn light every though I know he didn’t direct it.

Everyone is wasted especially Jason Mamoa.

Yeah that sucks I thought it had potential to be better.

James Gunn has proven to be a one-dimensional kind of guy. He doesn't know other ways to make movies. It's all Guardians of the Galaxy clones. Maybe the executives told him to do it that way, maybe not, but it's all the same. That being said, I don't plan on seeing Supergirl in the theaters. The trailers I saw just didn't interest me.

Yeah it will be on HbO Max or vod in a few months nothing to rush and see.

Yeah I like Gunns movies he has a template and he sticks with it. He didn’t direct Super Girl but he should’ve waited and did it.
I don’t know if he got pressured to release it to keep the Superman brand out there or what. They are trying to rush a Superman universe and they should take their time.

He has a lane and should really stay in it. He’s very good at the quirky, oddball, misfit thing.

But left to his own devices, he leans too far that way and gets too silly, to where the viewer can’t take anything seriously. He needs a voice to tell him when he’s going too far.

When DC made him a top guy, they effectively eliminated that voice. So now he can go too far whenever he chooses.

What I feared would happen is now coming to pass.

i believe Mily was supose to be ruggish and sloppy looking in Supergirl , while she appeared elegant and royalty in HOD,. this ia clear chracter appearance difference.

Ironically this would also be my first time hearing complaints about her looks in HOD.

i feel sorry for Milly in that, once this " Ugly " socal media backlashes with a couple or few , others also craving attention as well will chime in their own insults and ugliness towards Mily and it's gonna avalanche and may halt her remaining career in getting major lead roles.

i saw SUPER GIRL, .. and i'm in agreement with the criticism of it. it was Not Good, imo.

- i said in a previous post how i was gonna approach with an open mind towards Supergirl, even though i never care for her in the comic book, animation or TV series.

- i was entrusing James Gunn to re-create Supergirl into an appealing draw. Yes he was not the Director but he is the Executive producer, responsible for choosing theright, idea director. And Gunn did not succeed at this.

- i intially questioned the casting of Mily, i did not find the main villain appealing at all, i thought he had more the chrisma of a hencmen, than the sole villain... he was very forgettable.
what was the problem of not choosing a more well known, more porpular named DC superman villain vs Supergirl ... ala Brainiac, Bizzarro, Solomon Grundy, etc ?

- and yes it was too dark and gloomy in too many scenes, particular action, hard to vision squeeze in focus on what was going on action wise.
i didn't cattch on what rejuvenated Supergirl to be able to finish the final schenes , .

- Supergirl has action in it, ..especially the first part of the film, but it just wasn't wow impressed action , it was average and forgetttable. ..

- Lobo was interesting for the short moments he was in it, mainly becuz he was a known name, a bizarre one at that.

- On one note- it is very important to know about ho the various Suns affect the Kryptionian hereos Superman & Supergirl. How a young, quirky, spontaneous, party superheo who super strength, super healing, invulnerability can get herself drunk and have hangovers and even bleed on occasions.

(SPOILER ALERT) i surely didn't get when Supergirl influences the teen she's protecting Not to kill the villain, yet she herself easily does the killing the villain ? WTH ?

On a sale of 1 to 10 ,,.. i gave Supergirl just 5.0

We gotta start using the custom-made CowboysZone spoiler tags, etc., every time, to avoid the possible automatic deletion of posts. Pretty please. ;)

I am in 100% agreement with you about the main villain. Heck. I did not 'feel' any degree of malevolence from him, despite what my eyes were seeing.

Here is a link for understanding how different stars affect Kryptonians:

https://nerdist.com/article/supergirl-different-color-suns-dc-comics-superman-history/

The rejuvenated Supergirl scene before the climax: the planet revolved around binary stars or a set of two stars. The planet's rotation took a certain amount of time, which I do not remember if it was explained in the movie.

Think of the green sun as Earth's moon and the yellow sun as Earth's sun. As the movie planet rotated, the green sun would be totally visible for part of the day. The yellow would be totally visible for another part of the day. The green sun was killing Kara. The yellow sun does what all yellow suns do for Kryptonians--it makes them Super :D

The movie trailers tried to prepare moviegoers. What Kara said in the trailers and again in the movie was:

"Here's the thing. My cousin and I have very different ideas about what it means to be a hero. He sees the good in everyone. And I see the truth."

Kara's life turned to hell with her parents and Argo City dying from kryptonite poisoning. She was always feeling that trauma. It's why she was behaving the way she was, The drinking. The disassociation from people.

Feeling the byproduct of revenge is just as disruptive to someone's spirit, especially someone as innocent as the girl. Kara talked her out of taking revenge to spare her that hell. IT DID NOT MEAN she would seek the same justice Kal-El would in the same situation. The villain needed to die to balance the horrors he inflicted on the girl and others.

I already knew Kara would serve as judge, jury, and executioner. This is James Gunn's way of differentiating her from Superman. In my opinion, it is the only solid thing established by this first solo movie for Supergirl. Personally and selfishly, I am waiting to see any moviegoer backlash over it. It happened with Man of Steel, which I had zero problem with either.

The woman ,Ana Nogiera, that was given the responsibility of writing the script for "Supergal" had ever only written one other script and it was for a 12 minute short in 2018.
