i'm really trying to warm up and keep an open mind about a Jane Foster Thor in Love and Thunder upcoming film, ... " worthy" of handling and possessing " Mjöllnir' Uru Hammer.
We'll see how this works out ...
Not getting away from canon has allowed Marvel/Disney to enjoy a great deal of success, although they have regularly thrown in tweaks along the way. Jane Foster as Thor will be tweaked like everything Marvel/Disney has done before since 2008. However, the character herself is canon and not a tweak.

Foster was found worthy to wield The Power of Thor.

These movies and television series have attracted their share of criticism. Thor: Love and Thunder will be no different.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has reached its 14th birthday. Since day one, I have been grateful it has explored the vastness of stories and characters in Marvel's treasure trove. What I am not so grateful of is Taika Waititi being the director. I am not a big fan of his work.

actual marvel lead characters into live action lead movies

2008 was the year that Marvel started with a plan for an interconnected film universe. Prior to that it was a hodgepodge of start and stop, hit and miss one-off films.

Zach Snyder's Justice League' Coming to Digital, If You Have Four Hours to Spare
By Richard Trenholm | CNET
June 30, 2022

justice-league-dc-flash-batman-wondr-woman-2-hero.jpg

When DC's Justice League came out in theaters, it was rather different to what original director Zack Snyder intended. So the Snyder Cut of Justice League makes up for that, expanding the flick to four hours of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and the Justice League fighting the good fight. Having been released on HBO Max in 2021, it will be released on digital July 19.

Did I mention it's four hours long?

This extended director's cut is a reedited version of 2017's Justice League, which was credited to Joss Whedon after Snyder stepped down midway through production due to a personal tragedy. Three years later Snyder dusted off the original footage, shot some new stuff and compiled it into a four-hour cut. Officially titled Zack Snyder's Justice League, this epic version was initially exclusive to HBO's streaming service alongside other Warner Bros. blockbusters and DC Comics spin-offs. You can buy it on Blu-ray disc, and it's coming to digital too.

The Last DC Heroes Unite for a Tribute to the X-Men in the New Deceived Cover
By Merry Clark | Somag New
June 29, 2022

dc__039_s_last_heroes_team_up_for_an_x_men_homage_in_new_dceased_cover_art_-840x420.jpg

The new version of the cover of the upcoming DC Comics series DCeased: War of the Undead Gods, presented by the writer of the series Tom Taylor and illustrated by Dan Mora, is a magnificent tribute to the famous 1991 cover of “X-Men No. 1” by Jim Lee. “X-Men #1”, written by the iconic Chris Claremont and Jim Lee with Lee’s art, is the best-selling comic book of all time and marked the beginning of the legendary and controversial release of the X-Men of the 90s. Jim Lee’s bold, colorful art style became the centerpiece of the comic book aesthetic of the 90s and helped turn X-Men into one of the most popular comic book franchises of the decade, so it’s no surprise that artist Dan Mora chose this iconic cover. to pay tribute.

DCeased: War of the Undead Gods, written by Tom Taylor with the participation of Andy Lanning and Trevor Hairsin, is the third and last series of the popular DCeased comic book series on an alternate universe. DCeased tells the story of a world in which the Darkseid anti-life equation turns into a technological viral infection that spreads rapidly across the Earth and the entire universe, turning civilians, heroes and villains into terrifying zombie-like monsters. DCeased: “War of the Undead Gods” will conclude the series, which, according to the creator of the series Tom Taylor, has always been conceived as a trilogy. In the second part, DCeased: Dead Planet, the heroes of the second generation, such as Damian Wayne, Cassie Sandsmark and Cassandra Cain, returned to Earth and cured the population of the virus with the help of a Cyborg.

The Umbrella Academy Season 3: Why Elliot Page's Performance is Powerful
By Nicholas Johnson | MovieWeb
June 29, 2022

ViktorBottle.jpg

The Umbrella Academy, a unique and hilarious series based on a Dark Horse Comics collection of the same name, debuted on Netflix in 2019. Since then, it has seemingly reinvented the somewhat tired superhero format, as its characters, almost without exception, have all manner of glaring, quirky deficiencies, which puts them in a stark oppositive light to the humble and strong heroes that populate Marvel and DC projects.

The 'family' comprises seven babies born under mysterious circumstances and adopted by the eccentric billionaire industrialist Sir Reginald Hargreeves, portrayed by Colm Feore (The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Chronicles of Riddick). Each has a unique power and is played by an excellent actor: Tom Hopper (Game of Thrones, Terminator: Dark Fate) plays the muscular gorilla-man Luther, David Castenada (End of Watch, Sicario: Day of the Soldado) portrays the knife-wielding fighter Diego, the wonderful Emmy Raver-Lampman (Untitled Horror Movie, Jane the Virgin) is Allison, Robert Sheehan (The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, Mortal Engines) gives voice to the harried ghost whisperer Klaus, and Aidan Gallagher (Modern Family, Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, and Dawn) plays the time-traveling boy Five.

10 Harsh Realities Of Being A DC AND Marvel Fan
By David Harth | CBR
June 29, 2022

Collage-Maker-28-Jun-2022-0314-PM.jpg

The comic industry is dominated by Marvel and DC. The two superhero publishing houses have been going for over eighty years, each one adding to the comic medium and creating stories that have entertained and inspired for decades. And while there is definitely some sectarianism in the comic community, more often than not, most fans like both publishers.

However, that doesn't mean that being a fan of both is easy. There are lots of things about being a Marvel and DC fan that can be quite harsh. Sure, there's an embarrassment of superhero riches when one loves both publishers, but that doesn't make it easy.

The 10 Best Quotes From The DC Animated Universe
By Leigh Bicica | Screen Rant
June 29, 2022

Batman-and-Superman-in-The-Animated-Series.jpg

Before the Marvel Cinematic Universe wowed a global audience, the DC Animated Universe provided a masterclass in world-building with some of the smartest and sharpest comic book adaptations ever created. From the still amazing Batman: The Animated Series to Justice League Unlimited, this shared universe of animated series should have been the blueprint for the DC Extended Universe today.

While the DCAU is technically still ongoing, with a feature film being released as recently as 2019, all the groundbreaking animated shows are long over. These are the quotes that prove it has the most fully-realized characters of any shared universe - animated or live-action.

Superman Is Over Batman: "You Know Something, Bruce? You're Not Always Right."

DC Reveals First Look at New Legacy Character Red Canary
By Jenna Anderson | comicbook.com
June 29, 2022

DC's Dark Crisis event is currently underway, with the death of the Justice League earlier this year serving as a catalyst for a lot of changes within the publisher's multiverse. One key highlight of the event thus far has been seeing how other heroes rise up in the Justice League's absence — and as DC revealed on Wednesday, that will include the debut of a hero with a surprising legacy. On Wednesday, Dark Crisis writer Joshua Williamson took to Twitter to reveal the first look at Red Canary, "a brand new legacy character" who will be debuting in the pages of Dark Crisis #3 in August. The character, whose costume design was created by Dan Mora, sports a costume that pays homage to Dinah Lance / Black Canary, with fishnets, a leather jacket, a domino mask, and bird symbols that all are rendered in a red and black color scheme.

The idea of Black Canary getting a new legacy successor is definitely a pleasant surprise, especially considering the character's long history within the pages of DC Comics. Outside of an initial retcon in the 1980s that split the mantle of Black Canary between mother and daughter Dinah Drake and Dinah Lance, as a way to narratively explain the heroine having been around since the 1940s, she has not traditionally had a clear costumed sidekick or successor, instead just teaming up with other heroes or with the various sidekicks of the Green Arrow family. That being said, Black Canary has inspired the subsequent debuts of other characters, either in completely separate comic universes (like with Marvel's Mockingbird and Watchmen's Silk Spectre) or in unconnected multiversal stories (like with Final Crisis' Crazy Shy Lolita Canary, or Laurel Lance-Queen in the recent Dark Nights: Death Metal event).

Just realized. The Conan and Red Sonja movies are not in the list. Oh well. lol.
Or Howard the Duck.......

I don't consider the first Conan movie a "Marvel" movie. Conan wasn't created by Marvel and Conan stories were published in pulp mags in the 1930's, decades before the Conan Marvel comic. The movie rights did not belong to Marvel, they had the comic book rights but do not own the character.

Red Sonja is a little different, it may sorta be thought of as a Marvel movie. The version of Red Sonja depicted was created by Roy Thomas at Marvel, but it was loosely based on a couple characters from Robert E Howard short stories. The characters she was loosely based on were from a totally different time period (Crusades and Dark Ages), different back stories etc.

15 Most Powerful Guardians Of The Galaxy Members In The Comics, Ranked
By Shawn S. Lealos | Gossip Chimp
July 1, 2022

Nova-and-Hercules-in-Guardians-of-the-Galaxy.jpg

The Guardians of the Galaxy grew to become certainly one of the most well-liked superteams on the planet because of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What made this much more spectacular was the truth that they have been by no means a extremely massive deal in comics earlier than that. Marvel Comics launched the group in 1969, and it appeared nothing just like the film model.

However, because of the MCU, the Guardians at the moment are extra widespread than ever, even within the comics. The group from the flicks shaped within the comics in 2007, seven years earlier than their debut within the MCU. Since that point, a few of the strongest cosmic Marvel heroes joined forces on the group, many able to matching as much as even Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Ms. Marvel Co-Creator Anticipated Fan Anger Over Kamala Khan's Power Changes
By Cameron Bonomolo | comicbook.com
July 1, 2022

The Marvel Cinematic Universe's newest superhero is... Night Light? When Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) makes her costumed crime-fighter debut, onlookers name the young marvel "Night Light," a childish moniker inspired by her ability to create purple-colored constructs of energy. Directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have described Kamala's powers — unlocked by a bangle inherited from her great-grandmother Aisha — as "hard light," a cosmic energy that the Djinn Najma (Nimra Bucha) reveals originates in the Noor dimension.

In that realm, Najma and her people are known as the Clandestines. "We've been called Ajnabi, Majnoon, Unseen ... But what we're most commonly known as is Djinn," Najma tells Kamala in Episode 3, "Destined," enlightening the teen about the source of her cosmic superpowers.

If you expected Najma to utter the name "Inhuman," it's a reaction that Kamala Khan co-creator and Ms. Marvel supervising producer Sana Amanat anticipated.

"I switched over to Marvel Studios two and a half years ago. I came on for this project, specifically to shepherd it into production, and work with the writer's room that [head writer] Bisha [K. Ali] and her team put together," Amanat said in an interview with EW. "They were trying to steep the story in a different kind of mythos that was one linked to larger MCU stories, but also linked a little bit to the lore of Islamic and Asian mythology."

Superman & Lois' Season 2 Finale Signals End of the Arrowverse
By Joshua M. Patton | CBR
June 30, 2022

superman-and-lois-arrowverse.jpg

Superman & Lois was one of the first CW series to debut after the massive Crisis on Infinite Earths miniseries. It seemed to signal a new beginning for DC's most successful shared universe. However, in Season 2, Episode 15 "Waiting for Superman," Superman & Lois revealed their connection to the Arrowverse, and it's the clearest sign yet that it's ending for good.

In the episode, Sam Lane makes a reference to the DC Multiverse but says that Superman is the only super-powered hero on this version of Earth. That means that Tyler Hoechlin's Superman and Elizabeth Tulloch's Lois Lane are not the ones viewers met on Supergirl and in the Arrowverse crossovers. Superman & Lois is completely disconnected from the Arrowverse as fans know it, so only The Flash remains. This decision could signal some corporate meddling.

Eternals Writer Confirms Why They Don't Work in the Marvel Universe
By Francesco Cacciatore | Screen Rant
June 30, 2022

Marvel-Eternals-Comics-Header.jpg

The mastermind behind the most recent relaunch of Marvel's Eternals, Kieron Gillen, believes that the group of immortal demigods had a fundamental flaw that explains their fluctuating success in the Marvel Universe, which he tried to fix.

The Eternals were created by Marvel's godfather Jack Kirby in 1976, and they perfectly represent Kirby's style and imagination, which often mixed sci-fi and mythology. Created by the experiments of the all-powerful Celestials from the primitive life forms of Earth, the Eternals are, as the name suggests, immortal creatures with incredible powers, tasked with watching over the planet and protecting mankind. Over the years, the Eternals mythos has greatly expanded, as well as their relationship with Earth and the Celestials. However, the characters struggled to find enduring success in terms of sales, a trend confirmed by the lackluster performance of their debut in the MCU in 2021. Kieron Gillen was given the task of steering the newest Eternals series (which also began in 2021), along with artist Esad Ribic, and they made it one of the most critically acclaimed Marvel books on the market. According to the writer, the secret ingredient for this success hides in a simple but fundamental change he implemented.

super-sons-trailer.png

The first trailer for Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons, an upcoming animated film from WB Animation, was released this morning.

The movie is the first CG-animated film based on a DC property, as opposed to the 2D animation that is most commonly used for DC Comics-based animated movies. The villain appears to be Starro the Conqueror, the mind-controlling alien starfish last seen in 2021’s The Suicide Squad.

You can check out the trailer below, as well as an alternate trailer link at the bottom of the article for those outside of the United States.

The Eternals are in the same boat as the Inhumans are in my opinion. The characters aren’t interesting enough. That’s why both repeatedly disappoint whenever Marvel tries to push them.

I agree for the most part although I have favored the Eternals moreso than the Inhumans. That is likely due to my enjoying more of the Eternal characters than Inhuman.

I did not really care much for anyone outside of Black Bolt and Karnak. Medusa is okay but I could never get beyond the manipulating hair thingy. I would have preferred the traditional snakes/freezing people power than all that red hair flowing everywhere.

Crystal made so many appearances in Fantastic Four's comic, which was one of my favorite titles, but she was often so useless that it did not make sense as to why she would be part of the story. Gorgon was supposedly super strong but I do not remember him dominating any opponents with super strength.

Lockjaw should be adorable to me but I am not the biggest bulldog breed fan. Then he is HUGE on top of that. Love his teleportation power but his mug has always been a turnoff lol.
