It really isn't. He's the best in the business. Revered amongst a bunch of schlepps who wish they were as good as him. Commander fans are praying for this. Visit their boards.

I hope he declines, and I'm encouraged by @BrAinPaiNt's post above. Mayock is legit, and not a Jeremiah/Kiper. Unless he's assessing QBs. Lol

Will Mayock be able to give the Commanders the year long research and dedication (to each player around the country) he is able to give NFL Network for the draft? Probably not, there are different responsibilities in being an NFL GM from being a "draft guru" that strikes out more than he hits home runs (which comes with the job). Mayock would have to deal with free agency, salary caps, Snyder, losing records, perhaps winning records, losing players, feeling position voids etc...

Saying that, Mayock may very well be able to do the job well. What is funny about the situation is the fact the Commanders are basically looking at a TV personality with no executive experience to run their team. After firing their GM during the combine and FA process with a month to go before the draft. That is hilarious no matter how you look at the situation.

As for Mayock learning how to be a GM, yes John Lynch, John Elway and Ozzie Newsome were able to do it (run a team with no executive experience), but those three got the job before they were established as TV personalities. Don't really know if that matters tbh. Also I think Mayock will be the first non HOF player to have run a team in recent history (I'm going on the assumption that Lynch will get the call eventually). Does that even matter? IDK lol

Still funny

Correction: I guess the story has not been told on GM John Lynch yet lol

You're definitely right about the totality of being a GM. Perhaps what I mean is, is that they could do a lot worse.

But then again, Skin fans were singing the high praises of their former GM.

I may be in the minority but I think Mayock would be a great GM. I am not sure if he can fix the disfunctional Commanders organization but he is knowledgeable. His lisp is irrelevant. It's not that big of a deal and it is really ******* stupid for you guys to bag on him for that.
