why is it that people are considered terrible for putting down those who work at crap jobs yet those that work at crap jobs are allowed to put down those who work at "good jobs".

I mean I see doughnut shop workers ripping lawyers for being sleezy, thiefs, liars etc but heaven forbid a lawyer put down a doughnut shop worker for being dumb, poor etc

screw it, let them eat cake

I guess I am in the minority as I thought it was funny.

The only Commanders fans that should be offended are those that do work at Mcdonalds, which would be the majority of them ;) .

Funny you should mention that, here's Hardcore Zornography at ES message board:

For as far back as I can remember, I have been a huge sports fan. Probably the biggest one I know. A lot of my friends are as well, but they all have their one sport they know everything about, and simply don't care about the other ones. I pretty much like it all, and at least admire and respect a little bit about every major (and some unorthodox) sport there is.

People have a certain topic of interest they could go on and on about as long as somebody was listening, whether it is politics, the economy, health care, entertainment, or where the party is Friday, etc. Mine has always been sports.

Then, of course, I have those friends that hate sports. Even more so, they hate the overpaid athlete with the gargantuan ego that truly believes he is God's greatest creation. I typically tend to defend even that kind of athlete. I understand that they may be full of themselves at times, don't get me wrong. But I know that they have all worked and trained unbelievably hard since they could stand on both legs to get to where they are today. Granted, they may make an ungodly amount of money to play a kid's game, but that is the nature of the beast and people shouldn't hold that against them. They are not the ones who write the checks. So while I love to talk about and reflect on the "feel good" stories in the world of sports more than anything, I even give the villains of the industry their respect when it is warranted.

But over the weekend, something happened that, for the first time ever, caused me to lump every single athlete I have ever idolized or respected together into one giant cluster. It caused me to wonder if what one athlete said is really believed by all athletes.

Robert Henson, a rookie linebacker for my all-time favorite sports franchise, the Washington Commanders, took to Twitter after Sunday's win over the Rams and completely blasted Commanders fans for booing the team at the end of 9-7 win.

He had this to say: "All you fake half hearted Skins fan can .. I wont go there but I dislike you very strongly, don't come to Fed Ex to boo dim wits!!"

OK, calling out your own fans is a little discouraging and frowned upon, but I have seen way worse. Chalk it up to a young kid who was a little worked up about his team being booed out of the stadium, despite winning the game.

Oh, wait. There's more? You bet. He soon followed that err in judgment with this nugget of arse hattery after, I guess, getting some hate responses for the people who follow his account: "The question is who are you to say you know what's best for the team and you work 9 to 5 at Mcdonalds."

Whoa, whoa, whoa! Now you have struck a nerve, Mr. Henson. We won't even go into the fact that while your "tweet" or "twit" or whatever the blue hell they are called lacked proper grammar and punctuation, and included the word "dim wits" (Who still says dim wits?), it did manage to low blow a pretty good percentage of American people who happen to pay your ****** salary. I assume that his insult isn't just designated for only McDonald's employees, but anybody who doesn't make over $20,000 a year.

That is a big problem with me if athletes feel this way about the loyal people who follow their every move on the field, court, or ice. It really makes me wonder if a good amount of other athletes I admire feel the same way.

I worked at Burger King for 3 years just recently and am currently working at Target part time for barely enough money to pay bills (let alone keep up with my friends' lifestyles), despite having a college degree and a 3.1 grade point average while in college. And while these places of employment are not ideal for anybody who is not a highly ranked manager or supervisor of some kind, they do have some of the hardest working, loyal, and smartest people I have ever been around. They do not have the luxury of standing on a sideline in gym clothes (because Henson isn't even considered good enough to dress in a uniform for games as I type this) and be a tackling dummy at practice 3 days a week for the league MINUMUM $400,000 a year. How dare he completely demean people who are not as lucky as he is.

He is now forever entrenched in my mind as a ****** piece of ignorant trash who I hope is off MY team and out of the league in the next 2 years, when all the other teams discover his mouth is more talented than his football skills.

Henson, I seriously wish that one day, when you are out of options in the sports world, and your impeccable use of the English language doesn't land you a job on ESPN or even your town's local newspaper (sarcasm), you will go full circle and end up handing me my Big Mac value meal through the drive thru window at a McDonald's somewhere in this country.

So the moral of this rant is I am now on the side of those who think every athlete out there is of the Robert Henson mold. Because the fact is I have probably been naive for most of my life in thinking they were not. Maybe one of those "feel good" stories will appear on ESPN in the next few days to bring me back to the naive side. But for now, entertain me when you are on the field, and keep your dumb*** mouths shut about fans off of it. I don't care if it is to thank us. Don't talk about us. You obviously don't respect us. So keep us out of your words and thoughts. Go buy yourself a new Rolls Royce and enjoy it while you can. It will be repo'd in 2 years when your McDonald's salary won't cover the monthly payments. Welcome to my life. I hope it eats you alive.

End rant.

His words were flashed on Comcast SportsNet's postgame show, where he was savaged by ex-Commanders star Brian Mitchell, who asked "Who the hell is Robert Henson?" and told the rookie to "shut up."

Thanks Brian. You are my newest hero.

He's kind of right. Maybe it comes with the job for him to sit there and take abuse from minimum wage counter-jockeys, but he doesn't have to like it. Booing your own team at home during a victory is about as low as it gets for a fan. And we all know from personal experience how much respect posters give to players from their favorite teams safely behind the anonymity of a message board. So the guy doesn't like wannabe's and gangstaz who complain and don't really even understand what they're complaining about? I don't like them either.

Now, he might end up getting himself cut for exercising the prerogative of speaking his mind, but that's his choice. To get mad at the guy for saying that stupid people behave stupidly doesn't really make that much sense, though.

the problem with his statement is that regular joes aren't the only people to publicly piss and moan and act like a jerk

what he said was just ignorant

take for example if I said that all car-jackings are committed by African Americans

that wouldn't go down well with anybody, and it certainly isn't true

Fair enough. He's generalizing, and it's arrogant. Still, if I'm a player sitting through the boos, or if I were stupid enough to visit a fan site after a close victory to watch them all overreact, I could see myself spouting off at them, too. Generally speaking, fans don't understand enough about what's going on in games to legitimately complain, and insulting players for their performance or abilities is pretty common. Publicly taking shots at them for doing it, even by using sweeping generalizations, is still cooler than them doing it to you anonymously.
