Tough Raven defense? Those days are long gone.

2005
5th in yardage
10th in points

They're tough and better than last year with Lewis and Reed back from injury and Ngata added. Their offense is much better now, too. They will be top 5 this year.

Commanders | Team's offense struggles during scrimmage
Sat, 5 Aug 2006 18:52:35 -0700

Melinda Waldrop, of The Daily Press, reports the Washington Commanders offense struggled during their scrimmage against the Baltimore Ravens Saturday, Aug. 5. The team gained a total of two yards in their first six tries on their first drive. Head coach Joe Gibbs said, "I think we've got a long ways to go. That would probably be my assessment."

Freaking amazing and happy to hear it. I listen at all the taking heads ... even Tony Cassilas (sp), who can barely name any of the players on our team ... act like we don't even exist in the NFC east. They've already annoited The Skins and the Giants the NFC east crown. They act like Spears, Ware, Newman, Glenn, Singleton, Canty, Ellis, etc don't even exist. Lord knows we don't have the nerve to show up with an offense!!!! I can't wait until opening day!!!!

If you watched the scrimmage on NFL network, you'll know that not a single offensive starter played in the 11-on-11 portion of the scrimmage. That includes RB, WR, TE, OL, QB.

2 yards on six plays - that's what happens with 20 yards in penalties. Campbell, Collins, and Bramlet (camp fodder) had very few incompletions and no turnovers against a tough Ravens D that played all of their starters for two drives.

After the first six plays, they moved the ball with ease. 4 possessions - 1 TD, 3 FG tries. Those FG may have been TDs, except they were limited in the amount of plays per drive.

I watched the scrimmage and the "D" could not sack the QB and you had better be glad. There were several plays where Campbell could have been sacked!

They were doing bad in the scrimmage but they looked real good in the 7 on 7's

I agree with that assessment.... There would have been a few sacks if the "D" would have been allow to hit the QB in the 11 on 11

not sure about McAlister.... but Lewis wasn't on the field.

Campbell made some real good throws followed by some real bad ones.

Ray Lewis and Ed Reed played. I didn't near McCalister's name.

As someone who was at the scrimmage (and I have the sunburn to prove it), Campbell had one bad throw in the 11-on-11's. The only time the offense looked rough was on the first series when Campbell and the second team offense went against the Ravens first string defense. But when Campbell was playing against the Ravens' second string, he looked decent.

As far as I could tell, the Skins didn't play a single starting O-linemen or D-linemen (maybe the ends, but neither Salave'a or Griffin).

Brunell looked pretty good in the 7-on-7's. He and Cooley were hooking up a lot. Santana made a great catch at the 1-yardline on the sideline. Taylor Jacobs managed to blow a really nice throw from Campbell by not getting his feet down.

One other thing: the play-calling on offense was extremely pedestrian. I didn't notice ONE play where a player was put into motion, which is a major element of Saunders' system.

MossYearner,
The fact that you are trolling on a Cowboy site making excuses is very telling.

trolling? i dont think so. trolling would be "heh, yea, two yards of offense. lol. but the cowboys are only gonna have like -2! hahahah! oyu suck! hahahahha!!1!! lol lol lol lol!" MossBurner's post was more of an detailed explanation. although it could be biased- there is no denying that none of our starters played on the 11 on 11s

This is the ravens D ya know......we "technically" still won 16-13 but the 1st string O did crap until their 2nd try......then brunell to cooley looked like a fixed play

Campbell was hot/cold.......mostly cold in the first series....

the backups were backups....

it was the first action in months......I doubt a scrimmage is an accurate forecast

I doubt gibbs put any in effort at all with the starters. I remember last year they purposely did not pick up the blitz just to get their qbs adjusted. I'll hold my judgememnt on the Commanders offense until preseason.

he didn't play most of the starters
