Commanders receive 3 Compensatory picks

The Commanders got one 3rd round compensatory pick, I believe the other two were 7th rounders.

Wow... I wouldn't have expected them getting three third rounders for all of these players. I could see... Dockery....but the others.... ???

The Washington Commanders will receive two seventh round compensatory selections in the 2008 NFL Draft. Also, commissioner Goodell said the Commanders will also be awarded a third round selection in the 2008 NFL Draft because they have to keep Jason Campbell and no other team has to do so.

"It's the least we can do for that franchise. The negative impact from Jason as their QB is significant and we are striving for all teams to be competitive."

The Skins need the picks because they have easily the oldest roster in the league. So if they were to keep getting free agents, they'd likely just get older and really hurt themselves for the future. Instead they stayed away in FA and have draft picks to funnel in some younger talent. I don't think Snyder has really changed, but I have different theories as to why they are going through the draft this year and ignoring free agency. Although the Washington Post believes they will go after Chad Johnson heavily in July.
