What happened to David Patten? Didn't they make him a millionaire many times over a while back? Already gone so they resort to use the Patriot stable again?
He's in Nawlins.

I hope they waive Shawn Springs for Caldwell. Great trade off.

In all seriousness, I think he and Vinny Cerrato are related somewhere down the line.

*EDIT: BrainPaint beat me to it

Is Lloyd hurt or are they just that down on him?. After Hurd's performance Monday any interest in Caldwell went out the window.

Didn't he have shin splints in the offseason?

Dallas has had sensational luck with undrafted wideouts, even To was a third round pick and Crayton was a 7th. Glenn was acquired for a sixth so Dallas has been fortunate to find high talent in low places. Great scouting is what that amounts to.

i get it. man, thats a good one!

i'm guessing the coaching staff is down on lloyd after one play in particular sunday. seems lloyd gave up on the play too soon, then had to sprint to catch up to the pass but is too late, so it gets picked. then he jogged to catch up to the defender.

not good.

Do you think he's hurt or just being Lloyd?

The genius of giving away draft picks for players like Brandon Lloyd is that the draft is a crapshoot. At least with a guy like Lloyd, the Commanders know what they're going to get, and he's a young guy. So, instead of wasting a draft pick and roster spot on a guy like Jordan Palmer simply because he has a familiar last name and Gibbs can't evaluate talent, they can get a super-star like Lloyd for a draft pick who probably wasn't going to contribute anyway, and then give him a big contract extension before he ever plays a down.

I think I pretty much covered all the bull we've heard over the past few years from Skins fans about how brilliant their approach to building a team is.

Congrats - you've got Reche Caldwell for your investment in brandon lloyd. Maybe Taylor Jacobs is still somewhere.

I don't think it is a bad signing...not sure it will help much though. The last Pats receiver they went after didn't really pay dividends. He is probably be their third best receiver....maybe second (but saying that after El's first game may be a stretch).

The Skins have their own strategy. Rather than go after young guys and develop them on their own they go after names to fill holes like Godfrey, Kendall, and Caldwell. Most times it doesn't work out but that not to say it won't in the future.

I was against Dallas signing Caldwell, but I won't gripe the Skins for this move.

from what i've seen of lloyd, this guy just doesnt seem to play that hard. i thought maybe with brunell playing poorly last year, and then campbell coming in as a virtual rookie, maybe he didnt have a chance to show what he can do. even moss had a bad year.

lloyd went on a crazy diet in the offseason in order to bulk up. it looked like he was going to be ready to produce. but even if there was some miscommunication on that one play (which seems highly unlikely), the man jogged after the defender and that shows lack of heart.

he needs to step up immediately.

the skins have a well deserved reputation for ignoring the draft, but they have drafted some good players years ago, as well as recently. jansen, samuels, betts, (not putting smoot in that category after sunday- hes in the doghouse), cooley, betts, taylor, rocky, landry (looks pretty good so far). not counting other good/decent draft picks that went elsewhere - bailey/dockery (had 6 good games really). and i do think campbell will be a pretty good QB, at least.

My response wasn't in regards to the draft nor some of their bigger FA acquisitions that worked out for them. My response may not have been a well thought out response either. I was thinking of those smaller filled positions or backup positions that good organizations like the Eagles and Pats tend to look at young unproven guys who will grow into the roles while the Skins tend to go after those guys those good organizations tend to let go of for younger players. Just a different philosphy, i guess.

This is one example and you may not agree with this...and I am not sure Dallas is a good organzation now...time will tell now that Bill is gone for player personnel.

Anyway, Dallas picked up a linebacker from NE to develop at the end of the bench. In years past they picked up Ryan Fowler and Scott Shanle who were both undrafted to play depth at linebacker. The skins typically go the veteran route and get guys who have been successful but may be past their prime like guys like Godfrey.
